Congrats on finally tackling the botting problems, very few people on these forums seem to understand the chaos that blizzard has unleashed on botters over the past 4-6 months but I for one want to congratulate them for it.
Second, I would like to applaud the decision to offer no discount on diablo 2 resurrected which is probably the best way blizzard has to make sure botting continues to get tougher and tougher.
Shoutout the blizzard team for actually doing something, some of us with 80+ IQ have noticed and continue to notice this.
Now, blizzard, if you think for one second you cant make millions still on this game, you are all completely out to lunch, extra stash tabs, stacking small runes (stop at mal), enable auto rolling for runewords like spirits in game through some kind of paid mechanics, add a different uber trist with higher mob density (2-4x chaos sanctuary levels) and complete act 4 with some new quests. Make mosaic sins about 15% less strong and maybe add a charge component to enigma to make it more expensive to be farming efficiently with all characters.
Thanks for your attention to this matter.
The Real Hero
Edit: PvP Ladder system at 2-5 bucks a month you ll get 5-10k buyers just with that
i sincerely am out of the circle since don’t touch the topic myself from any direction ( neither do i bot nor check nowhere if any such individuals were banned) so what didn’t i notice regarding blizz war on botting?
“i sincerely am out of the circle since don’t touch the topic myself from any direction ( neither do i bot nor check nowhere if any such individuals were banned) so what didn’t i notice regarding blizz war on botting?”
Would it be fair to say you noticed nothing due to you not paying attention?
well if You say so… I’ll trust Your word on this one…
so if it’s true than yes… good job blizz
I just think “the hell You’re yet to unleash” shoudn’t end in being nothingburger… because as viewed by the season 12 patchnotes it sure does appear so… perhaps there’s a D1 remaster around the corner… and that’s where all their hype train rolls… who knows…
Too bad the next BlizzCon is as late as Oct/Nov 2026, likely we won’t know until then… that’s a lot of time to w8
uhhh wut? There has been multiple discounts on d2r this year, It was available for 12$ a pop before last season. Bots will still control the economy in the next season without a doubt.
Wait what?.. I dont think so to be honest, Blizz only do things that make sense from a business perspective which is why they only do ban waves with just enough time in between to make the botters buy new accounts.
If they really were 100% dedicated to solving the botting issue they would have to require some kind of real ID when making a new Battle.net account. This would make sure that noone would be able to run multiboxing or multiple bots and at the same time once u get caught u will not be able to make a new account. What they are doing now is nothing but taking advantage of the botters and manipulating their own income with this so called “chaos that blizzard has unleashed on botters”
Funny how all the people who complained about playing Tetris in the original D2 LoD stash now get a much larger stash per character, which is useless really, other than for muling gear the character will never use. My current D2 LoD active accounts are in the dozens and 99.9% of the characters on those FREE accounts are mules.
And so, if you want to buy extra stash tabs, you can get an extra 27 stash tabs plus an extra 24 inventory space by buying another copy of the game.
If you need to stack/hoard small runes, you need to rethink your play style.
Is this you requesting to pay to gamble for the ability to roll perfect rune words?
There was time, during the LoD era, when Pete Stilwell of the Classic Games division would post about the Ban Hammer coming down on Diablo II botters. Especially during 2016 when they finally figured out how to permanently stop spammer bots both in the games and in chat lobby. Maybe that’s what @mach means.
Botters are only half the problem. The other half is giving on class two to three skills from other classes that makes the point of a “party” meaningless. They are a 1 man party before the other 7 even show up. It’s like driving an Abrams tank in a WWII battlefield.
When a banwave happens, that is Blizzard collecting their dues from the RMT bot shops. They will rebuy the game, and Blizzard likes money, so that makes them partners.
The problem is anonymity. If Blizzard really wanted to slow down the botters, they could restrict buying the game to only bank issued and traceable accounts, which require proof of identity. So no buying the game with new throwaway accounts funded with Blizzard gift cards or prepaid visas.
But as I said, Blizzard likes money, and they like money more than they like combatting the botting problem.
Botting is all about starting a new instance as quickly as the game allows it to be started.
Nothing more.
You don’t need to get into security issues - just put a significant enough delay on starting a new instance after you close the one you are on.
Yes, that will mean that the “normal” user base will have to abide by the same restrictions. In that regard the “normal” user base really needs to decide what they really want. In other words is the “inconvenience” of clamping down on Botters worth it for their own sake?
I said some kind of real ID, they literally already have credit card information from everyone who used this as payment, and like TheDarkJedi said if they restricted buying the game to only bank issued and traceable accounts u wont be able to buy a new copy with that account if u get banned nor can u buy 100 copies and start ur own RMT botting adventure.
The only real problem is, they dont want to solve the botting issue, they just want to make sure they profit from the bots
They already kind of tried something similar in old D2 LoD with the “Realm Down” temporary bans. As it turned out the bots quickly adjusted their timing, made longer runs or compensated for the delay in their program. Bots were running rampant like there was no tomorrow and the only ones that got punished was the legit player trying to farm Travincal or do Pindle runs. I know i got quite a few timeouts myself doing Travincal back in D2 LoD which i am glad is a thing of the past.
