Blizz prepare for launch please

Let’s have a good game launch by being prepared. I believe what Kripp said that this is going to be huge. Especially now you can see any title halfway good (valheim) explodes. And this is not a halfway good game it is a all time great game. I dont want to see 10 hour ques. I would recommend something that ashes of creation have mention and that is reservations to login times. Especially for pre orders. A bad launch can kill a game very quickly , cyberpunk and many others. Let’s be smart and be prepared for a launch like Blizzard has never seen before. You are building it and the masses are waiting unlike anything you have seen. You got your hardcore who still play or moved on to other things, you got two new gens yet to really experience it.

I actually agree. If Blizzard can take any lessons learned from D3 launch is that this release is gonna be big. Real big. Bigger than D3’s launch. If Blizzard doesn’t adequately prepare, D2R’s launch is going to be filled with ‘error 37’.

So long as we can authenticate the game im not bothered. I’ll play offline if servers are playing up.
That’s the great thing about having a true offline option.

Thousands of players will get a couple days off work for the D day, so i hope they have servers good enough to manage it, i believe they will.

I always expect a few days of nightmarish queue times and error codes for releases like this so I dont go crazy when it happens. Would definitely be nice if it was a smooth launch though and they actually get the server capacity for the amount of week one players that will be logging on at launch.

I feel the same. So long as we can verify our copy and jump into offline game, I’ll be fine for a while. I mean, there’ll be so much stuff that we might be itching just to check out how it feels like and how the game looks and sounds like etc, which is fine to do solo, I think. Nevertheless I’d be happy if they nail the multiplayer launch too, of course.

If memory serves, in D3 I could not even play solo until they fixed the servers/connections which was a big bummer.

I think the release will be big, but I can’t see it being bigger than D3. It will also be impossible for it to go as badly as D3 (I hope).

I really do wonder how new (younger) players will react to D2 Ressurected. I honestly think it will get a bad reaction initially. Games are so different today that I think it will take too long for new players to understand they don’t really have to “complete” the game and that without a REALLY deep understanding of the game its borderline impossible.

I will be playing/enjoying regardless, just curious.

This is completely futile, despite the fact that:

  1. Blizzard will be warned constantly by the community.
  2. Blizzard will have metrics that show great interest in D2R.
  3. Blizzard will have massive amounts of pre-orders to indicate day 1 player counts.

They will ignore all this and designate a few tired old servers to D2R, and it will be unstable and crashing for the first few days, until they see they are losing money and then designate more servers to it.

All of their big game launches are are trash fires. D2R will be no exception haha.

Blizzard never learns. Prove me wrong Blizzard.

When was the last time Blizzard had a smooth and well executed launch? They fooked up d3, wow classic, wc3 hd. So I wonder if they actually care.

Overwatch launch went pretty smooth - at least here in Europe.

The Queue time on WoW Classic servers were F’d up though.
For me it ended with 2/3 of the people I played with switching servers or outright quitting the game, so I quit too :disappointed:

I hope they find a solution to somehow manage the amount of players storming the servers on release day.

When was the last time ANY AAA developer had a smooth launch?

That’s not a trend in the recent years.

Even if that happens, there’s single player…

If Blizzard expects 1 million day one users, prepare for 10 million! WoW Classic few weeks were terrible to deal with!

Think of it. This will probably be the first… and last ladder reset where your not racing the bots. Just think of it for a second… more like an hour while you wait in que because 1500 bots are in front of you.

I do hope for a smooth launch as there should be, in theory, less unknowns on the server load front as the core game hasn’t changed.

I know I am planning to take a couple of days off for the launch more than likely.

Give them some time. Some people are still trying to buy their GPUs! : (

Smooth launches are always a good thing, however if something goes wrong or breaks, I’m not one that is going to blow my stack about it. Sure if the launch is bumpy I’ll be a bit disappointed, but I know that unplanned technical difficulties can creep up at the last minute. Either way, I’m looking forward to the game, even if it is a bit after the official launch.

They predicted 2 PvP servers for EU, then ended up adding another 20 within a day or two.

They thought we didn’t, but we did. Lol
