No they won’t, they are just test chars.
No, because the beta is just a test. In all cases I know, the progress from a beta is deleted and everyone starts with fresh chars on release.
Well thats not exactly true, online chars will certainly will not be playable after beta, but localy saved SP chars will likely be playable still after beta. So it depends if op talk about MP or SP.
Yeah, SP is a good point. But we actually don’t even know, if we can play SP in the beta, do we?
True, but it would be weird to not have that option.
The alpha was online-only aswell, right? (I could be wring here, not 100% sure)
As much as it feels weird on first sight, that parts of the game would not be out for testing, I think you can’t really give the people a singleplayer in the beta, because you have no control over it. You can’t delete it from their PC’s, all you can do, to prevent people from playing after a beta has ended, is to shut down servers. But if SP is part of the beta, people might find ways to circumvent initial logins or so and play the SP beta for ever.
At least that would be my concern as a dev. And then you have a game version creeping around on private PCs, which might still have bugs and so on.
But maybe they can deal with it better than I am just thinking of.
No Alpha was single player, act I and II only.
The only thing you might be able to do is reserve a character name.
I don’t recall any beta ever that allowed characters to roll over into retail.
Reserve names? IIRC they said that the battle tag system will be implemented. So no unique names at all.
No, you won’t be able to do that. It does not matter though.
Yes and no.
The system will be similar to our Btag themselves.
There are at least 4 Leviathan’s who post here - BUT they all have a diff number sequence portion of their Btag.
D2R char names will be similar. You can have all the Bob Characters in game but they will have the Btag appended on to them to ensure they are unique to the system.
So if you make chars they would be
Bob-Haxxor
BestBarb-Haxxor
GemMule-Haxxor
I could also make those chars
Bob-MissCheetah
BestBarb-MissCheetah
GemMule-MissCheetah
Also keep in mind you get one free Battletag rename and can pay $15 each for further ones. So if your Btag is something that sounds odd with a char name theme you want, you can change it.
They don’t sorry sir.
