You can only roll each base once. After that, it becomes a socketed item, and is no longer the correct ingredient for the cube recipe that adds sockets.
Ahhh, that makes sense.
These are things I never bothered to do in LoD. I guess I was young and dumb back in 2004
Yup thereâs a lot of cool depth to this game like that!
It is tempting to use socket quest sometimes, but if youâre able to find enough bases that rolling the dice on # of sockets a few times (and you have the ingredients) isnât too bad, then it can be nice to save the socket quest.
If you are still in Normal then anywhere in Act5 Normal and in NM when you move there.
You did stipulate the best base and that would be an eth CV that usually drops in NM or Hell cows farming for hours.
In Normal I donât care if itâs a decent base as all I care about is a low value voulge that has 4 sockets.
If I do Cows, I also have the chance to find uniques/sets/runes, too, right? Albeit may not be the âbestâ place to find runes, at least itâd be possible?
Yes. Chaos is the same deal though, and Diablo also has decent drops, so you may want to do both for variety.
I may swap out Countess for Cows. I didnât realize that Countess didnât drop HRs lol. Crawling to the 5th level probably wouldnât be any slower than grabbing Wirtâs Leg every time.
never confuse Countess with Cows.
Countess runs can give you gg uniques after many runs along with runes.
But Cow runs for hours will benefit you much more gear/gold/gems/jewels/bases and Levels.
CS has also been a decent place to farm experience (for a mostly SSF player, anyway).
Her normal Hell drop table is up to Ist and she has a special drop up to Lo, but above Ist is much rarer.
Iâm not fully up on the lingo of where mid/high hands off, but that means she can technically drop Ist, Gul, Vex, Ohm and Lo albeit not a huge chance.
Iâve personally gotten a Vex from one of the side rooms, so I usually like to clear them if Iâm running her anyway.
Cows and Chaos are nice b/c of the high density though, so you can offset the low drop chances with more kills in a given time period, and as you said, going through all 5 tower levels can be a pain. Finding Trist portal in Stony should be equivalent to finding Tower in Marsh, and then Wirtâs leg is at the same place every time vs. getting to the 5th level of tower.
im sorry but the wording ploop made me laugh more than it should have, thank you
Countess can drop up to LO, a very high rune, but itâs very rare.
Iâm not adept to the rune hierarchy; are Jah and Ber above Lo, or are they considered to be in the same tier?
EDIT: after doing some reading, maybe I will change up my farming route a bit to do Trav (if I can actually not die lol), Cows and CS.
You canât use the socket quest anyways. He only sockets an item that has 0 sockets to it. I tried
Acky meant getting a âwhiteâ base item that Larzuk would then socket. Are you referring to taking an item that already has sockets, just not enough, and trying to add to it? Correct that this does not work.
Larzuk will add sockets:
White items: Max allowable by item type and item level (ilvl). Normal cannot natively spawn items with more than 3 sockets, however items with sufficient ilvl can exceed that from Larzuk if the item type supports >3 sockets and ilvl is of sufficient range.
Magic (blue)/Rare (yellow)/Unique (gold)/Set (green) items: 1 socket
Thank you all for your insight!
Another off-topic question, but are The Pits a good farming location for the runes? I am confused about them only dropping in A4 and A5, but I thought I read somewhere about The Pits having one of the higher iLvl drops.
If someone found an eth CV they would have to be insane to roll the dice with cube. A CV will always get 4 sockets from Larzuk. An eth 4 socket CV can go for a highrune to some folks desperate for a good infinity base.
Thresher or CA is a bit more debatable. Larzuk would give them 5 sockets, you could use them for a pride or obedience but those runewords are not quite as popular. Iâd be more likely to try cubing those.
The Pit (both levels) are area level 85, which means technically the monsters there can drop most of the items in the game. Probably the rarest thing Iâve ever found there (in legacy D2 though) was IK chest armor though.
For runes specifically Iâm not sure though.
Youâll also hear about Lower Kurast super chests for rune farming, but this is typically only viable for single player where the map doesnât reset, so you can have an efficient route to check the chests over and over.
For your 3rd sentence did you mean
Thresher or CA is a bit more debatable
?
Yeah, I typoâd it seems
