I’ve loved foh for a long time, and love that the changes make it viable for PVM. it may be my first pj.
Which mercenary do you think is the best for this build?
Insight is essential due to the brutal expenditure of mana, so I think cold a2 with his crowd control is probably still the best.
but… what about a1?? can now equip insight as well, and provides slow missiles, blind, and conviction boosted elemental damage. do we debate?
If you can manage without insight, an A3 merc would be pretty sweet with the extra damage from your conviction.
A holy freeze A2 merc will probably be best, as he will go in and engage/slow the monsters while you sit far away and pick at them with FOH/HB.
Since you’re using FOH to pvm, it means you’re just playing for fun and not speed. I’d personally try a3 merc with fire aura gear; it could go well with conviction.
If that’s too expensive, I’d still to a3 merc to take advantage of elemental damage and conviction.
Now that Holy Bolt (both the skill, and the proc from FoH) hurts Demons as well as Undead, I suspect that the best merc may be the new Act 5 merc that taunts the enemies – guess it depends how well he clusters them up.
I’d probably not even run conviction really. I’d put redemption on for that sweet mana and life from corpses, since the HB’s from FoH are what’s going to be doing most of the damage. I’d probably run an A1 freezing arrow merc with it for the crowd control and you can throw a bow insight on her for even more mana sustain. The redemption aura was the way most people did it in PoD also. Below is some footage of it there. Obviously it’ll be a little different here because there’s still a .4 second cooldown. I’d probably just throw 1 pt into conviction for multiplayer play and any magic immunes.
