I need help deciding what base to use for enigma. Please give me some tips or thoughts about which base you think is best and why.
I would like it to be in a base that is as versatile as possible since I doubt I will find another jah and ber anytime soon.

It depends on the rest of your gear and where you’re trying to be. Archon plate if you want max defense while still being a light armor, mage plate if you want a really low str requirement, dusk shroud if you like that visual style. Those three are the most popular bases afaik.
Mage plate is the best base, though i prefer dusk shroud due to visuals. Archon isn’t very viable anymore because they fixed the strength bug, so unless you play a class that requires a high amount of strength, such as using a monarch, i’d choose a mage plate for the low strength requirement.
I always go dusk happy medium between archon and mage plate. Plus my bvc looks more badass
It’s always better to invest as little strength as possible, so I’d go light plate or even breast plate.
If you have anni and torch, mage plate is a great option.
Archon plate and dusk shroud is no longer an option for me after strength bug being fixed.
you’re falling into the newb trap if you use anything above quilted armor that you managed to put 3 sockets into.
