To be honest, I think Berserk is in a pretty good spot with the synergy change to Battle Orders in 2.4. If anything, I would like to see Berserk do 50% magic damage / 50% physical damage in order to give added survivability with being able to use life steal effectively.
While on the subject of attack rating removed and skill always hits target it should be Concentrate, which fits nicely with the lore.
Beserk still needs to always hit. Its magic damage. Is there another magic damage that does not always hit? Is barb the only class that doesnt have a skill which always hits ( not including war cry because that skill is novelty at best compared to other choices and its use in PVP was essentially eliminated with the FHR change )
Beserk needs to always hit, for PVP, and that means cannot be blocked by shields either;

And if you howl monsters away then you donāt want to kill them, so what does that have to do with the question. I donāt understand what are you saying here, that battle cry is a bad skill? it is absolutely great, I use it from CTA on other characters even, when I need merc help to kill diablo\baal.
Game gives you a challenge and tools to solve the challenge. I like to use all the tools at my disposal.
As for Conviction on a zealot, i havenāt tried it but I donāt think it will help - instead of hitting with better chance you can just hit more often with fanat.
Iām sorry that you have to have this attitude. I play a lot of melee. Currently i have a SSF Phoenix Strike assassin and she struggles with hitting. But itās a fun challenge to solve. At first I just used a claw with 2 perfect amethysts for AR. Then I found a spineripper dagger and used it just for the Ignoreās Target Defence mod; now I found a Bartucs and socketed it with an Eth rune to keep the hit rate managable. It also use rogue merc - their inner sight helps with hitting a lot.
I also have a level 85 IK WW barb on ladder and donāt have too much problems with hitting. Again, just use battle cry when you fight certain enemies with high defence.
I play HC so my points always have that bias to em. In HC, the last thing you want to do is reduce your armor rating to ZERO surrounded by a dozen mobsā¦
So instead of acknowledging that AR and Hit rating are broken for physical builds, you aim to defend the broken mechanisms by bringing up a skill inaccessible to 4/5 of physical buildsā¦
Hit rating needs a compete rework for the sake of all physical builds.
I play HC too but game mode makes no difference in this discussion.
They are not broken, they work exactly as intended. I brought a skill that is accessible to most of barbarian builds (except throw), in the context of discussing berserk.
So when you pop a seal in CS, you would rather charge in and Berserk on your HC barb instead of leaping in, casting Howl, and singling down the unique?
Working as intendedā¦ Thatās why every melee build starts off with angelic ring + ammy to deal with garbage hit chance formula. Compound the poor AR scaling with blockā¦ Itās no wonder the entire ladder is topped by casters and javzonsā¦
Yes, there are others magick dmg skills that need AR. Just because itās magick dmg it doesnāt mean it always hits. Only spell skills always hit, others need AR.
Attack rating is so fād up , even with a shrine and 300k attack rating you still miss. Lol They need to rework Attack Rating all together, its way too flawed.
