I was just wondering about the basics of trading because I had a hard time finding a video on those basics. I’ve never actually traded before, so I’m kind of worried that I might mess things up.
Basically, someone wanted to see my gear and wanted me to put it in the trade window. However, the check boxes were on by default in the trade window and I thought that maybe if I put my items in the trade window he would just accept the trade and take them from me.
Is it okay to leave the check box on when you are trading? Or should you turn off the check box before putting your items in the window?

Check boxes are never clicked by default. They light up green once clicked. That being said you don’t ever have to put items in the trade window to just show them. Simply open chat and shift click the item to link it into chat.
the checkboxes ARE NOT ON when you start the trade.
they are “on” when you click on them and they turn green. whenever you place an item into the trade window, if either player had the checkbox marked green, it will revert the box to default. if you remove an item from the trade window, both players’s checkbox will become red for a few seconds blocking you from completing a trade.
you can certainly show off all the gear + items you want, you will never accidentally give it to the other person unless you hit the checkbox AFTER the items are placed on screen.
biggest thing is DO NOT get scammed! there are people out there who will say hey i will give you my dusk shroud enigma for a shako and in your excitement you don’t realize that the person swapped their enigma for a normal 1 socket dusk shroud. if a deal is too good to be true, it most likely is. before hitting the checkbox for ANY trade, review the items once more. watch out if the trade cannot be complete because the other person has a full inventory, they can use it as an excuse to try sleight of hand and swap something out when you reopen the trade window. it is very obvious if the person tries to remove an item and replace it with something else, you’ll see your checkbox becoming red.
