Bash skill improvement - Fix Barb early leveling

  • As we all know, the Bash skill is bugged and the +x damage does nothing
  • Starting as a Barb sucks because they depend too much on good weapons to do damage, and once you get to ~lvl 30 you are basically forced to switch to WarCry if you want to continue dealing damage.

So what if:

  • the +X damage on Bash is changed to be similar to the reworked Leap Attack and deal on attack a flat damage in a small area of 2-3 yards around the target, based on skill level.
  • Bash skill flat damage receives synergy from Leap just like Leap Attack does

This way the barb would get access at level 1 to a skill that provides flat damage no matter what weapon he’s using and would carry him at least to level 40 or 50 and NM where he could grind for better gear and prepare for H.

Bash is a good starter skill and a great one point wonder end game skill for super deadly monsters like aura + amp Hephasto and Hell Lords.
Akara sells 2os Scepters for $350. They are good until you get to Act 2 to make Malice and Steel.
I’ve been playing barb exclusively for 20 years, I’ve never made a Singer barb and I’ve never had a problem dealing damage. Barb being slow in the beginning is leveled out in hell when in the clvl 90s.

let’s be real, no one uses Bash past level 6 after Dual Swing becomes available

also, leveling a barb past Normal and in NM without pre-found items is like pulling teeth.
meanwhile every other class has at least 1-2 builds that can carry them naked to end on NM.

The barb isn’t the problem, cognition is. If you’re not good at playing the barb, that’s on you. Getting into Act 2 normal the barb easily has Stealth, Malice, Steel, Nadir and a Blessed Aim merc. And if you really want it, add to that list Ancient’s Pledge and Teleport for Act 3. If you can’t work with that gear you’re not good, again, that’s on you.

Prior to respects, putting points in the right tree was foolish when building 2 hander barbs, and so we learned to use Bash. Even then, by clvl 20 if you don’t have 20 hard points on a weapon mastery, you’re a noob - that’s the secret to early game barb damage - know what you’re building when you’re on the character creation screen.
