Like many players I purchased several copies of d2r for multiboxing and to my surprise and on the 8th of July I got banned on 1 of my accounts (fortunately not on the main one).
I was multiboxing using Process explorer starting the game then killing the handle “Check for other instances”. I repeated the process manually for up to 4 accounts on a single PC. I occasionally loaded 5th account on my old laptop, but that is probably irrelevant.
I typed the game and password for each account then when already in the game I was simply alt-tabing between different characters. I didn’t use any automation. I used many accounts for standard things, self rushes, self bo, socket quests, increased player count, dedicated chars with better magic find for killing bosses/super uniques.
During the Andarial terror zone I was one by one loading my 3 accounts to a single game for sub 1 minute runs, subsequently performing actions on all 3 characters. If not simply for using Process Explorer I suspect that this might be the most fishy activity that could trigger the bann, as it could have been interpreted as an input broadcasting.
Why i made this post? Definitely not because i hope that it gets me unbanned, they already rejected my 2 appeals, however these were automated template responses, so I still expect a human review. Many players not only on this forum, but all over the Internet recommend this method of multiboxing claiming it doesn’t violate TOS, well looks like it does. I started playing like that in the middle of season 12, throughout entire season 13 and up to this moment, doing everything manually as I stated before. I noticed I’m not the first one who claims got banned for this and people mostly are getting accused for botting, not telling the truth. Well, you may trust me or not, but this is probably not the last post in this subject. I want to warn other players as many of you have been doing things I did for months if not longer and feel completely safe.

People have been doing this so long now without Blizzard doing anything about it that they consider it “normal”. I’m sorry, but it is not normal, it never was.
What’s the point in playing closed battle.net multiplayer if you are going to play single player with several other of your accounts parked in the game just to boost player count and gain access to battle orders/enchant? I’ve been playing the game for quite a while now with one account… Guess what? No problems, I’ve never been banned. But then again I’m playing the game as intended!
If you want to play that way, play local single player! It has /Players X! Hack up a small charm that has Battle Orders/Enchant! Blizzard doesn’t care what you do in local single player! And it’s cheaper!
(We all know what the point is, it’s all about boosting drop rates.)
Blizzard, if you want to stop the majority of this, here you go:
The drop rate bonus provided by players is disabled when they are in town, and disables after 30 seconds of inactivity when not in town.
Make playing legitimately the path of least resistance.

The mechanic is not a drop rate bonus.
It’s a reduction of the nodrop chance.
I’m surprised you didn’t know that.

If two or more players join your game and the game gives you a bonus of less nodrop chance, and lets say those players are standing in town doing nothing while you’re out slaying monsters with little to no impact on your killing speed… You would get:
A: more drops.
B: less drops.
C: a bag of jelly beans with all of the red ones removed.
D: a free trip to Italy, but you have to pay for everything.
