How will this feature actually work I have been thinking that with shared drops all gold is shared to so if that is the case of it really fair to anyone not melee cause an auto pickup would mean whoever is closest gets the gold
My only logical conclusion is that whatever gold you or someone picks up would be split among party members.
Umm that is an interesting conundrum. While gold will come from more stationary enemies such as bosses, vast majority of gold is spread out with all the other enemies you meet alone the way. If you are in a group with a main tank keep the forces at bay, then yes that tank will suck up all gold within that range. If all players are capable of killing I would think you could naturally spread yourselves out more. Really depends on party setup and greed of individual players. All these arguments depends on participation and how your teammates play with you.
No questions asked though autogold does increase melee gold farming compared to range gold farming just by ease. Could also argue you will pick up more gold on average now as you would never click on super small amounts.
Splitting gold based on range makes sense to me, you will be getting more gold anyways in general (based on my play style I’d say though) so should equal out?
I never really worried about gold, even in multiplayer games, I dunno.
Well, early on and especially late game, players will acquire gold not from picking up stashes of gold on the floor but by selling useless items for 35k gold. I don’t even bother picking up gold anymore.

Ya I must’ve done the same, or just sold some runes, I can’t think of ever thinking about it as an issue.
gold always splits with party always has auto pickup just makes it so you don’t have to click on the piles
Maybe that’s why I never thought about it, I was so perplexed by the question 
Only time money ever drained me is if I needed to use a staff to teleport as my only option.
Fun-fact: Gold already splits between party members in the vicinity.

If you watch the Deep Dive, they said auto gold pick up will be a toggle that you can turn on and off.
