When you hover your mouse cursor over an enemy and hold shift you basically attack, but when the enemy dies attacking stops even if you keep holding the left click. This is really annoying because there’s no point in holding the left click so you have to click repeatedly.
if your target dies , for sur the attaack stop , if you hold down the left click and dont have target , you will still atack when he died
As I have stated it stops even if you hold left click and shift. I wish I could upload a video to show it. This bug was also in the original.
It’s so annoying, i hope they change it
Also happens with spell casting with the sorc (without shift) after target dies - incredibly annoying to spam the mouse button to reacquire a new target and keep the cast rate speed up. However, I can just aim at nothing and hold cast, and spin and circles and she will continue casting. Only happens when enemy is selected and dies.
Not a bug.
It has ALWAYS worked this way, ever since D2 was first released in 2000.
Blizzard would tell you: It’s working as intended.
Agreed. What you have to do is hold down shift and left click while not hovering over an enemy, then you will attack indefinitely. If things are in range of the attack you should hit them (at least this works with skills like frenzy, double swing and zeal that “auto attack” nearby multiple enemies.
So you could not reset stats and abilities and now you can, and did not see in the original game… and this is one of those details that makes the game from an enjoyable and fluid experience to constant aiming an re-click torture to a non-target zone…
You could reset stats and skills before. The attacking issue here is just as it was before and is intended. I’m not sure you even played Diablo 2 when it was new if you didn’t know you could respec.
But, that does not make this a bug. This thread belongs in the General Discussion Forum as a suggestion.
Personally, when D3 came out I was expecting the same (attacking) behavior. In D2 you can hard target an enemy. You stay locked on that target and continue to attack it until it’s dead. When you stop attacking, you release the mouse button and find another target. Or, you can use the method insidious describes by attacking without targeting an enemy.
In D3, you cannot hard target an enemy. You always attack as long as you hold Shift and left-click. But, if the enemy moves, you lose your target.
Both methods have their advantages. However, if I had my choice, I would prefer Blizzard change D3’s attack method to that of D2’s attack method. And not the other way around.
You guys are right. This is not really a bug. It already worked this way. But I think it’s time that they changed it in order to make the gameplay more entertaining and fluid.
Then, you should move this thread to the Diablo II: Resurrected General Discussion Forum as a suggestion.
