At what point should one switch from Blizz Sorc to Lightning?

Viper magi is far from bis… it’s a good mid game armor though.

Enigma is the best chest slot armor, even for sorcs.

So, would you guys make the switch taking the hit to resists down to 40’s and work as you go towards improving resists? An Annihilus would go a long ways if I could get one in 15-20 resists range but who knows how long that will take.

Wish they’d made that easier on Battlenet too, as the days of SoJ as a currency from duping are gone. How is one supposed to get one? Annihilus that is.

Perfect maras will help with resist

When you get Infinity you switch to lite. It’s simple. For a Lite Sorc you’re most likely still gonna end up using enigma but Infinity is the key enabling piece

This has to be a joke. I’m so confused

Don’t worry OP, all you need is some of the highest, most rare items. Just head over to that website and plug in your credit card number and you’re set.

Because Enigma’s mods are the best you’re gonna get. And think about it…… you actually save a skill point by not getting Teleport. And you can save another skill point if you don’t want to get telekinesis (I still get telekinesis)

Never is when

At no point, you should probably roll a new one once you have an infinity :stuck_out_tongue:

well for once enigma has no fcr and not really dmg.

Simple:
DMG → ormus
High Budget Def → CoH / enigma
Mid Budget Def → tal
Low Budget Def → viper
FCR → viper/ormus

Enigma isn’t bad but I wouldn’t wear it on a sorc.

I like the dmg FCR version and run around with echutas, ormus and griffons
You don’t really need def as you die too fast anyways if you wear echutas and griffons and a shield like phoenix / spirit and get caught in a fat mob.

If you want to be tanky, well you wear hoto, coh, stormshield and shako

In my opinion,

The damage you get from Eschutas is negligible. It makes literally no difference. I know this from research and using my eschutas so much. Switching to HotO didn’t change my clear speed and made my sorc stronger.

Ormus is useless unless you’re a pvp blizz sorc. But even then I was one-shotting people without mine. I used to roll with CoH on my Blizz Sorc to cap my resists. If I had more all-res sc’s I prolly could have used Enigma instead

Chains of Honor has literally no use compared to the mods on Enigma. Nothing. Literally zero. Go ahead and compare the mods side by side for yourself. You’ll find that the only mod CoH has on Nigma is all res. However torch+anni+res small charms cap your resistances

Tal Rasha’s isn’t impressive unless it’s a new ladder cycle. I made it a point to not trade for one because I knew it wasn’t useful and completely overpriced. I used a Vmagi I mf’d myself until I made my Nigma.

Vipermagi is very meh unless you’re a new character or trying to hit the 200fcr bp.

Otherwise you can hit your bp with griffs, arachs, spirit and HotO. You won’t be dying with Enigma and CtA. You can be cursed and teleport into a pack of fanaticism enemies and take like 2000dmg and teleport out and be cool lol

That being said you can roll with ormus and eschutas and still roll the game because it’s ez but Enigma will always be king and nothing will ever usurp it unless they add stuff/mess with stuff. I think you’d enjoy trying out Enigma on a Sorc. It seems counter-intuitive but it ends up being savage.

It’s because the damage percent gets added to the mastery damage percent, which is already very high. It ends up being a very minor boost to damage.
By comparison, Death fathom adds cold % damage to a spec that doesnt already have cold % damage, the mastery works differently. That’s why it is so much better by comparison.

I agree with pretty much everything here.

of course you only use coh for the res.
i dont like coh very much. enigma is good for the strenght. all res life charms are killer expensive…

but well i like ormus and a rare orb, mainly because you can use facets.

but well i actually enjoy running around with ormus rare orb rare circlet with facets and phoenix on my fire sorc for crazy dmg.

obviously its over kill but sorcs can kill everything naked anyways.
Just having fun to maximize dmg
enigma is boring because you use it already on almost every char

Key pieces for your light sorc is Infinity and Griffon, not Enigma. Infinity to break immunity and just overall boost your damage tremendously on non immune mobs. Griffon for general damage boost and significantly amp your dmg vs the targets with broken immunities, as they will typically still have high lightning res.

Use Tal Armor / Vipermagi as a substitute for Enigma, depending on your budget and your mf goal. Keep in mind that 3 piece Tals gives insane mf boost. Also, 117 fcr is easily reachable without Viper which means its greatest stat is sort of wasted. If you’re gunning for 200 fcr (for Nova build) then you need to have either Viper or Ormus (with 3 nova), but 200 fcr should be your last priority. I must say though, the playstyle from 200 fcr is something else, assuming you have the mana regen to support it :).

All you really need is infi.
You don’t need griffon, facets, eschuta, hoto or enigma to start rolling as light sorc.

Once you have infi, just put on crescent moon and gear to reach 117% fcr (magefist, arach, viper, spirit, 1-2 fcr rings, fcr amulet if u have decent one)

You will have enough damage to clear everything pretty fast with the -35% res from crescent. It is actually a bigger damage boost than griffon.

+% lightning skill damage mods on items are not very useful as it only adds to your lightning mastery, resulting in a very small overall damage boost (so eschuta is a bad choice, rather use hoto for resists/fcr or crescent moon for raw damage as endgame gear)

I am currently going with self wearing infinity in low str base. Also worth trying, but this setup require griffon and decent fcr amulet and some good resist charms to reach decent resistances and 117 fcr.
However, you can have meditation from merc this way. Very comfortable, I am probably not going back from this setup.

This does indeed sound like a comfortable solution, especially given that warmth seems to be bugged.
