There is only one level. Very hard to get to end. No where in the entire place can I find holes in the floor to place the staff. Is there another spot to try? I know in the arcane spot I was given 6 other false tombs, and the symbols for them. Where do I look for the false symbol and where would I look for the next clue since my quest deal has not given me more info - thx

Open your quest page…it tells you correct tomb to enter… all tombs have a symbol at their entrance before you walk in…
As mentioned above you might be in the wrong tomb. Sometimes I’ve entered the wrong one cause the symbol looked similar. Got to leave find the right one.
One other trick to note is that when you get to the summoner in arcane sanctuary, he’s showing the symbols for the various tal rasha tombs in his room. There is one symbol missing – this is the tomb that is the real tomb.
The Double Triangle is the correct one - the area where all the other tombs are at do not have that tomb. So how a clue me into the correct area, and how I got so lost. Cause right now, I’ve had enough of walking in circles, without anything pointing to the area at least

I’m not sure what you’re missing here? The quest in your quest log after you kill the summoner if you click on it will show the REAL TOMB of TAL RASHA symbol. After you kill the summoner in the Arcane Sanctuary, you click the tome in his room to get the red portal to Canyon of the Magi. The tombs are all located from left to right on the back wall of that zone. You will see symbols on pilars next to each tomb’s entrance. Look for the one that is showing in your quest log and that will be the correct tomb. Remember to have the Staff of Tal rasha as you’ll need that when you get to the spot where you place the staff to open up Duriels entrance and be able to kill him to finish Act 2.
Once you’re in the real tomb, you’re just going to have to go around the tomb (it’s a randomly generated level so it’s different every game) until you get to the spot where you can place the staff in. Typically this room looks like an L shape on the mini-map (default key is Tab). You click on the pilar, put the staff in it and click the check mark. You should see lights light up on the pilar around it then lightening will fire and open up Duriel’s room.
There are no guide arrows or quest markers for this game. There are PLENTY of guides you can read up on that have walkthrus for each area, but keep in mind the zones are randomly generated so typically you’re just going to have to hunt for things.
TY - Like you said left to right I checked all the symbols and could only find the wrong ones. I read I should have a tank style merc at this point to distract Durial so I can shoot him. IDM the grinding at all. I just could not Find the symbols I was hunting. So I gave up.

Some of them are a little hard to see at times. You can use the game’s zoom feature when you’re near the entrance it should be easier to spot.
Duriel is by far the HARDEST boss to deal with at low levels when not geared. His slow sucks and his room is very small. Typically you want to go in with a hit-and-move approach and have a ton of life regen pots and town portals just in case. It can take awhile to down him but it is doable. My summon necro’s summons would die nearly instantly on normal due to not being able to buff them up enough, so I had to bow and arrow him down. Takes a couple minutes but it’s doable.
In the Canyon of the Magi area, the best way to find the tomb you want is to go all the way to the lower right corner of the map and then go up along the wall until you either find the correct tomb or you run into a corner. If you get to the corner and have not found the correct tomb that matches the symbol in the quest window, go left along the upper (North) wall until you find the correct tomb. It will be there along either the right (East) or upper (North) walls.

Keep in mind also if you’re playing online the correct symbol may change in a new game, so be sure to recheck your quest log.
Somewhere in the correct tomb you will find a “dead end” room that has a large orifice to insert the staff.
When fighting him in normal for the first time I typically insert the staff but before going through the hole in the wall I buy 4x potions of thawing from Lysander in town then take 2 myself and give 2 to my merc right before entering the hole in the wall. I also like to drop a TP before going in so I can get back easily if I die.

I also believe the symbol changes if you leave the game and come back later. I could be wrong.
Ok I think I am in the correct room. There is a thing on the ground that looks like a well except it has straight edges and a pool like center. Lots of junk looks like wrecked cots around it. But, How do I insert it? I have right clicked and kinda waiting for some kind of prompt? This is so irritating. It is the 6th "“temple” if you go from left to right that has a triangle on the front.
Just click the Orifice then Click on the combined staff and click on the empty slot with your mouse now changed to the staff.
Then animation will show lightning crash into wall creating entry for duriels lair.
Dont forget to drink thawing potions and give some to your merc for the +50cold resistance. 30sec timer per potion (duration stacks).
Wrong room. I didn’t check to c if the symbol changed or not. Man I should have changed to a melee defensive merc along time ago - he charges in, the other run for their lives leaving me to kill. But - I have to watch his health and either heal him or run out and port.
Well the defiance Aura he has will not really make that much of a difference.
You can either over level it, get help online or use some tactics like, have Malice runeword on swap to proc bleed on duriel then run in circles +use of thawings to boost resistances.
You can also use Malice for Merc weapon, or create savage polearm for merc via horadric cube, it can have quite nice dmg but might be too high lvl during duriel etc.
MrLlama on youtube would have more hints as I dont play melees as first characters and rush through anything regardless

I killed him second try after returning for more health. I over think things. If I would have just went for the “Orifice” description, I probably would have found it long ago. Thx guys. Anyways I’m in act 3.
