Assassin Whirlwind Buggy

I have a CHAOS claw and without fail every couple WW’s the animation glitches out and my character freezes 1/4 to 1/2 the animation through. It is very consistent in glitching out.

Eg: I will cast a few tight whirlwinds, 1/2 tile in length, and partially through the 2nd or 3rd whirlwind the animation will freeze and the assassin will desync from the location appearing on the users screen.

I am having the same issue and so was the previous owner of my chaos! You will either stand in place and do nothing and appear across the screen a few seconds later having done nothing or when you ww like 3 times you just desync and freeze. PLEASE FIX THIS BLIZZARD THIS IS NOT A SMALL ISSUE!!!

I have the same issue. This is very frusterating. I am dying where I shouldn’t be dying because of the freezing in place bug. Need fix now

Same issue here. Also the whole movement of the WW animation seems to be buggy. Sometimes it whirls in super slow motion and then all mana is gone.
Make the chaos claw great again!

I also made a chaos claw, If there’s a lot of players in a baal run, I don’t even know where my guys is I’ll whirl wind and just appear somewhere else or get rubberbanded back where I was. If I’m doing solo I have a hard time controlling my direction because my guy bugs out in random ways. Please fix this bug and buff it too for fun.

Same issue here. In about every third WW the character freezes after a short distance. A second later it gets teleported to the end position. The damage is applied to the monsters in the way. It feels wanky and leads to unnecessary deaths.

I’ve tested the build in Diablo 2 original, the bug did not occur. It was much smoother, even with the limitation to 24 fps.

Please fix this bug. Thank you!

This is still broken. But I understand, Blizz is a small indie company with very limited resources that can’t afford to fix 20 year old bugs.

Ww works fine on my barb. Something is def up w either the ww/assassin animation or chaos claws. Help us please, I was really excited to finally make a ww sin :pensive:

I can confirm that Assassin’s whirlwind is not working as intended. Please fix this blizzard. Many people want to be able to play whirlwind assassin.

Current issues:

  1. Assassin will randomly stop mid pathing and get stuck.
  2. There is a huge delay between WW casts.
  3. Assassin will randomly freeze then appear at the end of pathing after a moment.
  4. Sometimes you are just stuck for a moment at the end of a WW.

WW Sin is pretty much unplayable (especially in PvP) until they fix this. Traded my Chaos Claw and benching my assassin until then.

Replying for extra feedback. I thought I was going crazy with this and I thought I didn’t know how to use WW, since I haven’t played in a while, but I can confirm all of the above issues. If i’m not too lazy I may make a video about it.

replying to confirm that wwsin whirl is buggy on d2r.

long time pvp sin player on d2lod, and currently have a hybridsin with an almost identical setup on both games.

issues:
-whirl seems to have startup delay, can’t do very short whirls. if the whirls are too short, no hits will register. on LoD no matter how short the whirl you will always get at least the first hitcheck on it. this makes tight tri-whirls possible on LoD, but those same triwhirls will not hit on d2r, making short whirls just leave openings for the opponent to escape.

-whirl gets hit out of startup with stun, needs a gap to start up whirl, can be hit out of it
if a pally smites the sin, on LoD you can hold ww while being smiten and you will whirl defensively away. on d2r if you hold whirl while under smite you will not whirl away, instead the smite will keep hitting you and interrupting whirl from starting up.
also harder to startup whirl out of wof or light traps.

-weird desync on whirl sometimes? seems to be tied to being stunned out of it. if whirl startup is interrupted there will be some desync and it’ll look like the ww animation for the sin, but they are not actually whirling.
very easy to lose a duel when this happens.

between short triwhirls not working well vs casters, and ww being a considerably worse defensive tool vs smite…
sin ww is feeling very lackluster in d2r

I don’t have any of the problems you are referring to🤷🏻‍♂️. The only annoying thing about ww w a sin is w claw block stopping you all the time.

As everyone else has already stated in here (…well almost everyone) please get this fixed. Spent all this time gearing out my ww sin only for WW to be completely buggy and freeze then skip across the map completely.

Never had anything like this happen in LOD. Would really appreciate getting this fixed/looked at or should we just trade off our ww sins since they are semi-unplayable as they currently are.

some more info on this.

I found that the severity of the lags/delays etc are kind of dependent on the area you running in. For example if I run like pits or ancient tunnels it is not a noticeable but for example the chaos sanctuary is almost unplayable. so it might have something to do with enemy density on the maps or something.

I concur. Also, something very important, I have noticed it appears always when I fight with paladin using smite. Its just impossible to fight against smiter, because it seems the interaction between sin WW and smite makes the game desync.

Agreed with everyone here. Whirlwind on the sin with chaos runeword is so buggy we are pretty much playing a trap sin. Would really like a fix!
