Are we done nerfing monsters yet?

LoD. Remove Iron Maiden
D2R : Make Tomb Vipers an utter joke
D2R: Mana burn bug removed so the teleporters have even less to fear.
The only thing left that is dangerous are Dolls. You going to nerf them next and have a total farking snooze fest of a game?
I could care less if mana burn was bugged. It was rightly dangerous. Now it simply isn’t.

i wouldnt mind if they buffed vipers and mana burn. but just to it deliberately, not with a nonsensical bug. a factor of 256 is just a bit too much.
you also forgot the fire enchant bug for nightmare.

Tomb vipers and manaburn were bugs. You know what a bug is, right? It’s something that shouldn’t be. Iron maiden was plain and simply bullfrog against melee characters, and that was recognized very early on

IM was removed from CS in like 2010. Almost a decade after the game released, many years after the game peaked and Blizzard North dissolved. Some rando at Blizzard got ahold of the game and arbitrarily removed it, even though it was one of the defining characteristics of CS.

It was definitely be a BS mechanic at times. I just don’t like the lazy solution of removing it instead of changing how it worked. This is one of those situations where the D2R team could commit themselves to preserving the original D2 experience by adding it back in, even if it’s a modified version of IM made specifically for CS and designed to not one-shot all melee characters.

hey don’t tell me souls aren’t scary. as someone who has never had an enigma and likes to host telebaal games on a mid-90s sorc, i fear those things more than any mana burn, pushy snake, or slow attacking doll

i thought rejuv potions were the counter to manaburn bug and that was fine

You’re a bit misguided with this perspective BUT have a very valid overall point that evaded the limelight;

They need a higher difficulty mode that offers something minor, like drops perfect gems or increased monster volumes & HP.

Or really just higher challenge to end-game players in pve arena. Otherwise it’s just farm simulator. There are many paths to this, new content only one option…

Add this back in and make casters even more desirable to play than melees. Riiiiiight.

D2R : Make Tomb Vipers an utter joke

Clearly a bug and didn’t really make for interesting tactics IMO. Either you stand still, stacked integer DR, teleported past them, or just die.

Also if you’re melee you have to stack integer DR and walk through their clouds or you wait for them to come to you in which case they’ll charge you (which always hits BTW, ignores defense and block).

D2R: Mana burn bug removed so we teleporters have even less to fear.

Again, something that punished melee more than casters and again something that didn’t have interesting counterplay. You either avoid getting hit or get your mana pool drained to 0. Casters easily avoid mana burn with teleport and ranged attacks, melee has no choice but to get into the fray and pray they don’t get hit.

Also interesting how you didn’t point out that they gave Lower Resist back to Oblivion Knights.

If a bug is intended, is it still a bug?

Increased XP boost at most, to help with the last few levels, otherwise people would complain that they can’t efficiently farm this new difficulty.

i dont care about the vipers and mana burn, but those dolls DO need to be nerfed lol. i loathe those things. if i see them i go back to town and wait until everyones in the throne room lol

IIRC, 1.13 was a player’s choice patch, in which the things updated were based on what the players wanted. Removal of Iron Maiden was one of these things, as well as respecs. This was also the patch I believe that removed the restrictions on Annis and Torches being unable to trade.

Ye I played and I met Mana burn monster and it was quite weak. Hmm they could have added a little flavour that once they Mana burns deplete your mana pool, they do twice the damage to your health. At least that… Yeah I also liked Nithlatak Snakes, it was interesting area.

I hope not… they still need to deal with dual immune mobs. :yum:

+1 but, although they haven’t really nerfed anything, they just fixed bugs/errors that made those enemies not do the damage that they were supposed to do.

The point is, with all these damage buffs that we’re getting and if in a future they do some balance of sets/unique items that will can fight against runewords (please do it blizz) would be convenient and GREAT that they increase the game difficulty or increase life/damage of all mobs/bosses is at least something i wish they would do.

Each of those nerfs were very well deserved. It made hardcore unfair because certain classes couldn’t bypass them.

Unless D2R implements a progressive difficulty system like D3 Greater Rifts, D2R will and has never been “difficult”. Even if it did implement such a system, some people argue only the time requirement is challenging and that nothing about D2R is difficult.

And if you make monsters start one shotting you, then it’s not even difficult, it’s just unfair/broken. Semantics though I guess.

If a monster does mana burn, thats one thing… But EVERY single monster was mana burning you to 0 instantly and you had no shot.
Its working as intended now apparently, and that is a MASSIVE difference that perspective is not being used on…

Including testing out these new builds with end game characters and gear, of course something is OP with that combo, let us know how OP it is building up from scratch.

Very few melee builds didn’t have a direct way to deal with IM.
Vipers actually took paying attention and or gearing properly. Now there is zero use for old blue items that were very strong. They weren’t bugged. Have had this conversation before with several. The ‘fix’ was utterly laughable, and neutered them to such an extent that they are laughable.
Mana burn didn’t hurt melee more. There is this stat called mana leech. It does wonders.

Blizz, these were all good changes. Please don’t listen to the clowns that thought those awful bugs were no problem because they bought GG gear for all of their characters with d2jsp forum gold.

You must be the kind of people who though reflect one shot from 2 screen away in path of exile was a good idea on random rare monsters.

Iron maiden was just stupid design, as a hardcore player, as soon as i was close to the Sanctuary i had to (STOP) using melee dmg attack or risk losing my char in a single hit… Needless to say i wasn’t running sanc on any melee build after being done with the quest.

Mana burn wasn’t hard … just annoying so i don’t mind them fixing it really.

Has for the viper … i mean 256 attack per frame c’mon dude … It okay for a game to be hard but 256 attack per frame ? i wouldn’t mind them buffing them back to a (Dangerous level) but pure random one shot from a white viper? nope.
