Are tanking possible?

Hi,

Weird question i know, but i wonder, is there a class who can be in the middle of a crowd in hell and takes time before dying?

Every character and build i read is for max dps, fast MF blablabla, but i never seen any real tank build.

Any weird build to suggest?

Sounds to me like paladins and barbarians, they can be virtually unkillable

a low life sorc, with no armor is what your looking for. Clearly you missed that part on the guides where it says on all of them, ā€œenough strength and dex to wear your gear, spam the rest into Vitality.ā€ All characters are tanks.

I think you don’t understand the word ā€œtankā€, but ok, thanks for the input.

The Amazon can be built this way. Recently I saw a video on youtube - I think from Cooley - about an Amazon that was literally - almost fully - invincible. Max block, lot of dmg/magic dmg reduction are the things to look for. And given how strong an Amazon can be, she still kicks ***!

Thanks, i didn’t even consider an amazon lol.

I’m want something like at the release of reaper of soul, there was a guy who’s 1st kill malthael in HC, the combat was like 5 hours or something, and his barbarian was an unkilable machine.

Pretty sure Barbs and Pallies are the only one can tank pretty well, good def, resist, life transfer, extra life, etc. All these would make a huge difference.

Other classes are more of support roles or heavy hitters. Dont get surrounded like that, that can be really pain to get out due to hit recovery. Some of those mobs are very dangerous, such as death lords, etc. If you get amped, gonna take alot of punishment, if you get curse from iron maiden, gonna kill yourself in there.

Was told the Amazon, with 1handed melee and a shield is possible. I do remember playing one back in the old Diablo II, seem to be a glitch. Like using a bow, strafing, you dont dodge at all and while you moving around, you will lose your dodge chance or will be much lower.

The biggest issues of all, getting lagspikes, for those cant tank, dodge is pretty much meats to them. Been seeing alot of poor souls on HC dropping like flies. I dont think i will try that again like i use to in old Diablo II. The servers arent stable and there no telling when you gonna lose power or the net.

My ES/nova sorc is good for MF and also nearly unkillable. Tanking for my merc while he killing lightning enchanted immunities. Do not feel Nihlatak’s CE.
Only 4 things are dangerous: manaburn, vipers from hauls of vault, mana curse from witches or Baal, night lords (actually, not sure if there is character can tank night lords exists, yesterday I met superstong might aura enchanted cursed night lord - oneshoted my merc).

Pretty sure these two are not the only two you can make tanky. Tankiness is based on AP and Vitality. A sorc wearing Sacred armor with 4oo vitality, would be just as tanky as a barb or pally, If you maxed your block chance by adding dex, you’re doing even better. Learn the game and how it works before you post your pretty sure that aren’t sure at all.

If you are lucky yes, one way or the other, gonna get those hiccups in there and she wont last long in Hell. Seem barbs and pallies have more chance as long it not too long in lagspikes over other classes. Lagspikes is number one killer for all of us, so if you guys playing on SC, then i wouldnt care. Most veteran players are in HC, included myself.

So luck is how one allocates points and decides what gear to wear? I found your issue, it’s not luck.

Really depending on if you are playing on single or multiplay with others. Single is something entirely different. Most players right now are ended up playing alone. If you are playing on Bnet, Ladder or HC, might wanna wait awhile.

And this has nothing to with HOW you build your character, and how tanky YOU make your character. And it still doesn’t change the fact all characters can be made to be tanks. And doesn’t change the fact, your still speaking what you don’t know. I’ll say it one more time, ALL characters can be made to be tanks, you just make them that way. It’s a pretty simple concept.

i’m gonne restart a character, untwinked. Tell me please how a sorc can be a tank from normal through hell like that?

Because just putting all my point in vita will not make a sorc tanky…

i want to play a tank from 1 to 99, not playing a tank while already 80 with the best gear. Leveling your ā€œtank sorcā€ i would love to see the gameplay of that…

Well good luck in there then, i have played this so many times since first release. Really aint much different compare to ol’ Diablo II LoD, same setup.

The reasons i said Barbs and Pallies are mostly tanker, cause they get extra points, for example pouring into strength, etc. They get more than other classes do. Cause they are meant to be that way.

Azazel, sure why not, mostly all about tactics and gears and sure hope you are playing on SC, offline if you wanna test it. Not worth it on Bnet with all this annoying waiting in line, crashes and hiccups. But HC, esp Ladder on the Bnet, you get extras, such as in drops and more xp gain too. Just isnt worth it, if you are not experience enough.

I think it’s what i’ll do, and i will even try it in hardcore just for fun

I wish D2 had a proper, hell viable retaliation/reflection build

Anyway, yes only barb and pally are tanky, barb because he gains 4hp per vit and a bit from skill set, pally for his skill set

The rest are either glass cannon, paper tiger or pseudo tank

I’m calling BS. If you have played since first release you would understand that ALL characters can be made tanky based on what armor you decided to use, and how much strength and dex you allocated.

Thanks for the answer.

That’s what i thought but pally and me are no friendly lol

There will be barb then, a shielded barb but i don’t know what kind of attack i will be use then…

@Azazel, same here. Yes can be fun alright, but if you get easily tempered and go off in a rage, i wouldnt recommend it. I have seen players smashed their tv screens, break the keyboard in half, etc.

@Aucuba, so you calling me BS? lol you are sounding more like one right now, esp trying to fight back. Rule number one, never feed the trolls!
