Sorry if this belongs in general discussion, but I’m gonna drop it here until someone explains why I see no “New Topic” or “Reply” button when I reading general topics that vaguely addressed this very topic,
Basically, I read Sunder Charms only drop the monster immune by 5%. But the (Fire) charm I found states immunity is reduced 83% which I am further guessing means MY immunity is dropped by 83%.
Since my (poorly-equipped, L90) Light source can whittle Light immune down with a point in Hydra and an equipment point in Blizz, both enhanced with +3 equipment skill points, that makes the 5% vs 83% a bad trade-off, should I ever find a similar light sunder.
And when that doesn’t work anymore, I can go play a game I can enjoy without the pointless and planned addiction. Certainly beats vainly seeking to build this Infinity of which everyone speaks that uses 2 Ber runes which I’ve never seen one of, let alone two in two seasons of play.
Perhaps someone could explain what the point is.
Type slow so I can understand.
It was to make Cold Sorcs more competitive with Lightning mainly I think. Also, this was a way to possibly reduce the ‘need’ for an Infinity. Basically I wouldn’t bother with them unless you’re a Cold Sorc, to which they’re very good (a much cheaper Alt to an Enigma equipped Hammer Pal). Maybe for some Light/Fire/Magic/Phys. they work great, but like you said the negative doesn’t seem to be worth it when comparing the positive.
I’m still waiting on any sunders to drop. Found 2 gheeds so far.
Lvl 87 now do they not drop less than lvl 90? Being req lvl 75, I would think they could start spawning in the 80s.
Okay, thanks for the informative replies.
My first of 2 Fire dropped before I even knew where and how to look for them, and well before L90. Got a cold and the other fire after 90 when I started making determined solo TZ runs looking for them.
Solo slow grinding, cuz in groups things tend to disappear seemingly before they hit the ground. And, of course, still 90 after many weeks cuz of stupid mistakes which cost me the long day’s experience gain.
So, with my suspicions confirmed, it’s back to random group play and the “joy” of inching toward 91.
Thanks again.
I mainly play solo on my necro as additional player count hurts my kill speed. Currently lvl 91.
I found about 10+ sunder and given them out for free. Only one missing is magic but that’s unless. I believe kill speed make them drop as I corpse explode everything.
They should drop at your level. I estimate my longest play time 4-5 hr a day. I will find 1-2. My magic find range for any character is 100-200.
When it drops for you. I understand the excitement but. Remember to NEVER identify it unless in town. Imagine finding a lightning sunder in World Stone Keep and 1 soul fly near you while identifying. Not fun at all.

Good tip for IDing them if/when one drops.
I play with a gamepad. With a gamepad, you can pick up up items the instant a monster dies, long before it hits the ground. I pick up a lot of items by accident because of this.
Don’t have a skill on the interact button and you won’t have that problem.
Yes and no.
If you are not well equipped than yes, you are better off with a multi-skill build.
But… the point of sunder was to break immunity down to 95%. Infinity cannot break every immune mob, does a good job at most but not all. Lower res cannot break many immune mobs, just a few. So sunder comes handy to just break it, but you need further enemy resistance handling to make this actually effective or efficient.
If you have sunder, and use lower res wand on a sundered mob, you can take another 20-30% off or whatever the lower res level have on your wand because everything you have after sundering STACKS. If you have infinity, you take enemy res even further, with crescent moon, another 35% comes off the staring 95% making it 60% resistant to lightning.
In my case, nova sorc with light sunder and crescent moon is pretty good even on player 3 in act1-2, act3-5 only player one but still efficient. With infinity on merc, it would even be better.
So it is not worthless but you need gear to take advantage of it because you need additional enemy res lowering since they will all apply AFTER the mob is sundered.
Remember, the sunder always breaks the mob down to 95% and whatever you have on your charm will come off your resistance, make you more vulnerable for the same type.
Hope it helps.
They drop often when I play offline P8, but they never seem to drop when online solo.
I farm terror zones with a mf sorc
