Are loot filters safe?

New ladder is coming, and id like to play it, but id like a loot filter, and i dont just mean filter out all the crap, i can live without filtering it, but i want to change colors of certain drop groups, so i can actually see it, like uniques for example, its very hard for me to see if the item is white or unique…

So if i get this filter for example nexusmods com/diablo2resurrected/mods/237/
will i get banned?
Or maybe i can change the color values in my diablo somehow?

No 3rd party is safe. You can get banned

oh goodness i want loot filter so bad but i do not trust using a program like that, and i do multi boxing lol.

People debate this but there was an interview with Blizzard that did say any kind of add-on that doesn’t inject code but just compiles the data already given in a different way, is fine.

There’s also a Korean streamer who read a response he got from the Korean team saying item filters are perfectly fine. Of course he could have just made that up, but I believe him. Either way, the interview from Blizzard from before the game released is enough for me. There has been no claim that anyone has ever been banned for using an item filter either.

Though I don’t use item filters now I have before on bnet without problem (specifically the one you mentioned here). I don’t like the ones that are out there but I haven’t checked to see if any better ones are available now.

It would be nice to have Blizzard clarify this in no uncertain terms but I don’t think that’s going to happen for whatever reason.

Official item filters are my number one wish Blizzard would develop.

I think ill risk it then, cause blizzard wont make officially, one of the most quality of life things you can have in this game, thats kinda annoying tbh.

bnet checks for values but not for UI and loot filters on nexus are UI only
thats the reason we can mod our stash to have a gazillion cells and although the change is visible, it is not operative

i dont think there was any ban due to the use of one of those

have been using it off line and sometimes i dont prevent the game from logging in to bnet (the “press escape to play offline” thing that sometimes doesnt even work and logs into bnet the same way)

Yeah that particular one that you linked I didn’t like too much because it changed all the colors of runes and gave funky auras to things unless you went in and changed some values on notepad yourself.

Maybe that guy has updated it since. Like, I just want a loot filter, I don’t need all of my runes in my inventory to be different colors and all that nonsense.

But yeah I used that on battlenet for weeks.

I would hope that it would be safe. Those that were “banned for using lootfilter” were the clowns pretending they weren’t using map assist for the maphack. If it is truly just a loot filter, blizz should probably just adopt it and make it legit and an option in game.

Don’t come crying here when you get banned, then.

If i get banned ill just never come back here, wish i had better sight so it wasnt a problem for me, but thats life.

You can use mods (including a loot filter) in offline single-player, you just can’t use them online.

Dude don’t risk losing hours of progress.

HDR ruins drop visibility for me in D2R. I had to turn it off and set my display to strict 8 bit RGB, once that was done I cranked up the saturation.

Boom problem solved. Uniques and runes were very distinguishable from whites. Give it a shot.

Anyone suggesting you will get banned does not know what they’re talking about. They are just inventing it. Probably because they don’t like the idea of somebody using a loot filter on bnet while they aren’t. It’s always about an agenda. Watch them fight back on this too. Why? Because they actually have an agenda.

Blizzard already stated that it’s perfectly fine to use add-ons that don’t inject code and only utilizes data the game gives you upfront already.

On bnet.

Give us a link to where this was said, I would love to use a filter so I don’t have to see arrows/bolts/potions/etc.

unfortunately thats not possible. you can only make the box smaller. not seeing trash would be a slight advantage online, and would definitely be bannable if it were possible. having this client side loot filter is fine, you’re just changing the language of the items. its like adding your own language. 0 benefit to you for doing so other than your own personal satisfaction.

tbh I just want to see the loot Pindle drops without sifting through his minions too lol.

Source? Link to official post? Blizzard statement for all games is that every 3rd party that is not officially approved from Blizzard is prohibited.

I had a friend play the entire 2nd ladder using the nexus loot filter. He never got banned. I hear you though. The game needs a loot filter really really bad.

as someone who literally has written his own filter… the lack of blizzard official support for this is a total disgrace.

anyone who argues against a filter as QOL is a moron.

that being said there are a ton of people here who dont understand what a filter is… or what it does and how powerful they CAN be…

a filter that is coded wrong or maliciously can do certain things hide items you might want tpo pick up, and even crash the game when a certain item drops.

it is important that if filters are added, they NEVER can force another filter on you like some idoits think would make it more “fair”

everyone needs to download their own filter or write thier own… or modify a downloaded one to suit themselves. never use a filter form someone you dont trust.

for example this is my own filter i wrote for path of diablo
( filter off)

it is a million times easier to read and makes it so you can see enemies much easier

for good item examples i used this
