Doing a Mephisto run last night, I got an Arachnid Mesh drop, needed for my Hammerdin build. When I checked Blessed Hammer damage, I noticed that it added dropped significantly. Instead of adding a skill point, the belt decreased all skill points by one. Is this a known bug?
Never heard of this bug.
You sure you didnt remove something beforehand. Double check and replace what you had on earlier if the number really has changed.
There is one other factor that I didn’t include. Defying probability, in an hour of farming yesterday, I got 2 Arachnid drops. I placed one in inventory , the other in a shared inventory slot. If a switch back to my previous belt, BH damage is where it has been, 6479. Swapping the Arachnid in, it drops to 6000, and every skill drops one point. My thought is to sell one of the Arachnid belts so there is only one in my account. The other strange thing is that both Arachnids are almost invisible, I can barely see them in inventory.
From what I know. Hammerdin is a skill base build. + skill should increase damage. You don’t get synergy bonus.
Arachnid mesh is the only belt with + 1 to skill. So not sure why the drop in damage. The belt is black. If it’s invisible, it’s ethereal which isn’t repairable.
Any other piece of gear turned Red? My only thought is the previous belt has dex or strength and has temporarily unequip a gear.
Other then that. I would report your case to Blizzard. See if they can diagnose it.
Previous belt give str? Something got red after removing it?
Lost 3 skills and gained 1?
Yeah, I had this before… I did not think that strength can boost hammers so most likely the old belt had decent amount of strength on it. IK belt?
I ultimately got the answer from Blizzard, I lost strength with the Arachnid, so my Spirit shield was inactivated. A couple of charms solved the problem.
Just as I suspected. Glad you found the answer.
I guess everyone misunderstood me.
If you change equipment and one of the gear has +str or dex. This will turn the gear red aka unequip but appears on in Red. Don’t know how else to explain this.
I totally get what you are saying… I just did not think this was the case simply because I assumed that the red background on any gear is obvious, hence ruled it out. I was wrong
The other thing is that not everybody is tuning their hero to the max, I had characters that had big str/dex gear on for other affixes but if I took it off, nothing would turn red since I already allocated my stat points for my needs. This was mostly the situation for me until I reached a point to respec into endgame build.
What I was trying to share is that to me, I knew that str increases melee damage but it was very new that str does increase hammers damage too so I assumed some big str belt was equipped.
I am kicking myself a little bit because I didn’t catch this on my own, somehow I was under the impression that if a piece of equipment became unusable due to a lack of points, it would really be apparent in the inventory screen. In retrospect, that may have been the case in a different game I had played. Before constructing a HOTO, my previous flail needed a lot of Strength, so I did a respec afterwards because the Strength requirement dropped so much, not considering the Strength requirement for the Spirit Shield.
Well glad we all came thru and solved the mystery.
Happy hunting guys!
While I have your attention, I have another question, although off topic. Are drop rate calculators (like Maxroll) accurate or believable? The next steps in my Hammerdin build are to acquire a Harlequin and a Zakarum (I did manage to build a HOTO, and havcew the Arachnid). I started doing Mephisto Hell runs, and would get a fairly good number of other Unique drops. To expedite the process, I just started Cow Level runs, and in the first 10 runs I had only one Unique item drop, is this just bad luck?
In my opinion Maxroll is a bit too opportunistic, Silospen is probably closer to reality but you have to understand that they are only indicators of rarity. I had to do much more Andy runs to get my Shako than what the calc was showing. Same for ravenfrost which was a big surprise for me.
I never do cows, I get my wealth from 2 places: Lower Kurast and Travincal. (gold, jewels, runes) If you want unique gear like Shako and Hoz just keep farming Terrorized Andy, she dropped these 2 already for me and I am only 6 weeks into my 2nd journey after character losses.
I don’t target farm. It drains my time and I get nowhere.
The game is all RNG. Know which area is 85+ and farm there.
I just play tz because every area is 85+ since my level is high enough.
Like KryptonKooky said. TZ Andy is where the treasure is. She drops so much goodies. On single player I do a few LK but mostly trav.
With tz area. It’s not all about how fast you teleport to the boss. But all monsters and items you kick give good drops.
Thanks for the insight. I am already getting tired of all the mooing.
