Howdy nerds.
I have been on the receiving end of random crashes to desktop this entire week. Dunno what changed but something messed the game up quite a bit.
I’ve been testing a few things over the past few days, ranging from changing video settings in-game or through the NVIDIA control panel; sound settings in-game and in windows; chat settings (in-game only), etc.
Finally landed on what I hope is a red herring: playing around with virtual memory in windows 10. Adding a page file on several ssd’s (up to 64GB of total recently) helps for a few more minutes, but the game keeps crashing randomly in the end. No matter what kind of size I set, the same error keeps popping up in my System Event Log the second D2R crashes to desktop:
Application popup: Windows - Out of Virtual Memory : Your system is low on virtual memory. To ensure that Windows runs properly, increase the size of your virtual memory paging file. For more information, see Help.
FYI I made sure to kill all other background apps except for: GPU-z, Task Manager, Event Viewer and CoreTemp but he results are always the same: a crash to desktop at a random interval - feels a bit longer with larger and larger page files, but in the end it didn’t fix squat.
Hope y’all can figure out what the latest patches have broken.
Sincerely,
Xavier.
