Hey,
And if so, how is it? It looks like d2 mixed with d2 and poe. Didn’t even know this game.

I think PoE is actual garbage, and I don’t like diablo 3.
I like titan quest, d2, an I really enjoy Grim dawn.
Take my opinion as you will.
Is it long enough or is it a game like you have finished after 15 hours?
If you just speed run campaign, you can do it in 20-25 hours.
My first play through doin lots of side all quests was like 45+ Hours. Completionist is over 100 for sure.
This was before forgotten gods expansion too, just base + ashes of Malmouth
Ok thanks, and last question, is the controller support good?
Actually, this I don’t know. I only ever played mouse and keyboard, sorry.
Yup I found it boring quit and haven’t tried it since
Well, i look at gameplay right now, and it looks like D3, i didn’t really like D3.
I’ll wait till tomorrow to make a decision lol
been a long while since i played it. enjoyed it for sure. I def got more of a d2 vibe than d3.
grim dawn has a full fledged d2 mod you can play (which is the only reason i even got it lol)
Grim Dawn is a great single-player game. That is its problem. They finally added Multiplayer recently, but without a closed realm like Diablo 2 and Path of Exile, it will always be a single-player game to me.
Path of Exile was amazing in its early days, but now it is just a convoluted mess. It is a prime example of how more is not always better.
Titans Quest, Torch Light, Dungeon Siege, etc…all those games that tried to be the next best ARPG back in the day, and all of them were great games in their own way, but they all came up short, IMO, because they all lacked a multiplayer Closed Realm experience.
There are people with thousands of hours invested in Grim Dawn. There are lots of different builds and tons of different gear.
Eh I think action rpgs are meant to be played single player for the most part.
Grim dawn is for the most part total trash. it’s almost as bad as Path of Exile which is garbage because of that stupid skill tree web the devs know is too much for new players yet refuse to make it understandable.
Let me begin with the piss poor damage application of things:
The damage system isn’t put together properly meaning there is no possible way to know if you’re doing certain damage types. The damage numbers are all the same color (White) and there is no combat log showing what damage type was done, to what enemy, and how much was done.
The explanation people gave to look it up was as useless as asking people how to know if elemental damage is even working. First the information is hidden so you have to know enough to hover your mouse over it, but what’s worse is what you’re told to look at doesn’t do anything to explain how to know any of that damage and type is even being executed onto a target.
Next is the map and portals, so many people had to ask how to use the portals…it’s bad enough the game has no way to distinguish damage, but when the map system is the way it is where people have no idea how to use a town portal that speaks volumes.
Next is the skill system, when you level there is nothing saying you even have skills, never mind how to open the screen, and this is supposed to happen at level 5, this is idiotic because there is nothing denoting you even have a skill tree to begin with. This issue caused a bunch of people playing to not even know they had skills and only found out when several people all posted how the damage was so low they couldn’t handle a group of 5 enemies at level 25. When someone brought this up on the forum a bunch of people agreed this was a problem, but the reply they got was it does show it and when people asked where does it say you have skills.
Well someone challenged people and thus made a video showing it in fact did not say anything at all about skills where people said it did, and after posting the video on the forum as proof, they were banned from the forum.
Next is the difficulty levels. The difficulty levels drastically tack this aspect on so the next difficulty up from normal is like trying to play hell difficulty in this game with the items you get in normal. The skill and progression simply do not allow enough damage even in the second difficulty you will struggle immensely. The gear in the game barely helps a level 60 in Grim Dawn can barely do nightmare as it is but past the first 2 areas forget it you can only handle one monster at a time if you’re lucky.
I finished base GD in normal mode about a year ago. It was ok, I just felt it lacked a spark, whether it was the forgettable soundtrack (there was one song that was great though) or the forgettable npcs, or the retro looking graphics, or the dated rag doll physics, or the confusing loot and attribute nomenclature. None of it really gelled together to create a special experience. I’ve been meaning to pickup the expansions in hopes of playing the improved GD experience (as I heard) but never made it a priority to put aside other games I feel more interested in playing.
I mean the music makes me want to create a new music genre. I have never seen a music fit the vibe of the game better. I still listen to it while farming D2. But whatever floats folks boat. I mean I also like really hard death metal so not every song is liked by everyone. It was Diablo that had one good song to me, most areas in Grim Dawn had great music. It is tritone dark, swamp super backwoods folky, and has a groove to it. As far how was the game. It was fun, not like to farm or anything but to push though the difficulties. If you liked played Titan Quest, it was mostly the same team and feels like it. Good or bad. I played through the entire game a few times with a two expansions because ARPGs are kind of my thing. I did not find the difficulty spiky at all. It was a rather smooth experience with a bit of rough edge on the polish. Pay attention though on the first play through or you will miss how to use certain subsystems. It does tell you how to do things but like once and if you are not reading that crap, you will miss how to do some things.
GD is not bad, but Last Epoch is better
better then D2, But its not much of a community type of a game good single player over-all tho better then D2.
Your explaination helped a lot. That’s what i was afraid of.
I stopped POE after 10 hours because of the skill tree. I want to play, of course i want to understand my build, but studying a map of the galaxy to make a build is just dumb.
I’ve read lots of thing about this game and it’s 50/50. Some people love it like it’s wayyy better than diablo 2, and some people hated it because of lots of different thing in game.
I think i’ll stick with D2 for now, i just look at stream of GD yesterday and the complexity of the talent tree looks, well, too complex for me.
Although i must say, i’m not a fan of ARPG, i like it, but i really love D1 and 2. All other A-rpg i tried i didn’t like it. Something is weird in diablo, i think it’s the ambiance.
Didn’t find that in any other game, that’s why i bought D2R
That’s where your problem lies and why you will never appreciate PoE or Grim Dawn or any other coplex ARPG, Diablo 2 is still quite simple to jump in in comparison.
That’s also a recurring theme of people not liking both of these games, the complexity and steep learning curve is waht pushed people away.
I do love Ddiablo 1, 2 and D2R but Grim Dawn and PoE are in another league entirely and once you passed this learning curve and play engame with self made builds it is way more rewarding than Diablo will ever be.
That said, in terms of raw ambiance and story delivery, Diablo 1 and 2 are clear winners.
