What I mean by “True” is not the fishymancer popular one where you max CE. Just a massive Army and focusing all points into Summons/Golems.
Obviously CE is awesome and why people play it but this time around I went only 1 pt into it and been leveling a True Summoner. Have a Zon merc with Edge bow for Thorns and with Amp and a huge Army made getting through Hell pretty easy.
Now I’ve invested heavily into Skeletal Mage for numbers and HP.(they don’t die now) However was curious if anyone else has maxed it and went with a setup to support them such as Infinity merc.
Just trying to mess with some variations and well also be lazy and let my Minions + Aura and Amp do the work. Is it the most efficient? No but a screen filled with an Army is fun too.
I do need a Bramble on a Might Merc but not there yet. I was also thinking the Conviction aura will help minions hit also Revives that are casters. I also been investing heavily into Clay golem for now and Golem mastery. (Not sure if I want to try a Giga Rune word Iron Golem) I really do love the slow on Clay golem for Elites or Bossing.
So anyone done the pure Army sit back and relax with a good 50+ minions?
If going with infinity max the fire golem and just keep recasting it on everything amped. It’s a fun character to tele-stomp with, which is best done with Enigma, but tele charges work too, but it gets expensive and it’s comparatively slow. Don’t waste a single point in b/p skills, and just 1 point on amp, the rest in summoning.
I’ve never put a lot of points into Fire golem do they start to pump? I would be maybe worried about losing the massive utility of the slow but this seems very interesting!
Kinda figured that might be the case. I’m not sure I want to keep recasting though looking for a screen of unkillable minions doing all the work. Interesting concept though.
Yea I got a Demon limb in stash. I am wondering how much Skelly Mages can pump at high level with Infinity.
I mean the idea is interesting since I’m already maxing Skeletal Mage. I also have points since I’m going pure Summon so no CE or Bone freeing up Golem points. The goal is for the Army to kill and different ways to do that are welcomed.
It’s a shame the Golems don’t have better synergies for each other. Where their damage could be competitive.
I hot key mouse wheel up and down - roll up casts amp, roll down casts golem, and mouse 4 I tele with. It’s fun and it clears very fast. But I understand if that’s not your thing.
Here is an explanation on all u need to know. The reason u would use fire golem is not because of the damage or the splash on death but simply because when using thorns aura u want to guarantee the boss (Diablo or any other act boss) attacks ur summons since they take 4 times more damage from bosses than ur merc or urself, this also means he will deal 4 times more damage to himself when attacking minions due to thorns effect. Problem is he will attack any high priority target that does high damage which often ends up being ur merc in wich case he does way less damage to himself, none of ur golems really do enough damage or attack fast enough to generate aggro before ur merc however this is where the fire golem comes in handy. The fire golem has another trick up its sleeve in the form of a holy fire aura much similar to the paladins which ticks every few sec and can generate aggro before ur army attacks the boss and guarantee that the golem gets targeted in which case the boss will deal 4 times more damage to himself
Fire golem doesn’t have thorns, he has something similar to holy fire. Might merc is better than thorns merc. When Diablo uses melee he only hits one enemy at a time. A might merc will increase each skellies physical damage a minimum of 230%, add to that double damage from amp and -83 defense from conviction - Diablo is going down fast. When built to it’s highest potential, Diablo on /p8 dies in 1 second.
Well think the goal is to use Bramble armor for lvl 21 Thorns. I used level 15 Thorns from Edge bow and it was very effective with Amp in kill speed with a Zoo army since I was lacking + skills.
Bramble is weak, especially without a BO barb. The necro should have Enigma and the merc an eth/15ed SA CoH. CoH and Andy’s helm with the +1 BC from HotA gives the merc’s might 280% ed to all the skellies. Also, the Andy’s and CoH combo provide the merc with a minimum of 16 LL. The necro also uses a beast axe and spirit shield.
Im not talking about fire golems having thorns, im talking about using bramble on ur merc or thorns merc and by using the fire golem to generate aggro from the boss to make sure the boss hits ur minion (fire golem) and not ur merc cause minions take 4 time damage from bosses which means the boss takes 4 times the damage from thorns when hitting minions. the fire golem is the only golem that will make sure he gets aggro first due to the holy fire aura and besides it is able to keep that aggro ensuring the boss always attacks a minion. Not really that hard to understand and if u watch the link i posted earlier everything has been tested and thorns beats might by a lot on hell difficulty if u were only to use one aura, but in this case both might,thorns and conviction is used on merc
Idk thorns is some massive damage especially with Amp. It’s just a huge flat damage boost being reflected back. It’s why I leveled with a Zon Merc and Edge bow and still using till I can get a Bramble/Might Merc.

Hmmm maybe when I have more skills I’ll switch cause on bosses I usually just super slow with Clay golem then afk and pick up loot.
If you and the boi in the video knew what you were doing you’d a. know you can’t keep a merc alive with bramble, and b. if you knew what you were doing you’d know that killing hell diablo on /players 8 should only take 1-3 seconds. You don’t need agro and diablo isn’t going to kill a well build might merc - he is going to be dead before he gets his first melee hit in.
Just remember might will be good on normal and nightmare but once u get to hell difficulty and monsters start hitting harder thorns will outperform might in most scenarios, especially when ur minions get cursed with amp damage or decrep in which case the monsters will deal even more damage to themself.
U have absolutely no idea what u are talking about at all. Its not LoD anymore and the year is not 2003 and all the setups have been tested and this is the fastest nowadays you cant beat the numbers no matter ur previous “experience” . And u do definitely need aggro if u want the full benefit of thorns, its 4 times the damage from thorns when the boss is hitting minions and only 1 times the damage if he hits/aggro merc. Besides ur merc will definitely survive when having an army of skeletons as meatshield and a golem taking all the aggro
