from few sources gathered, max def for a normal wire fleece is 481
so an eth version of it with 15% enhance defense (1.5 x 481 x 1.15)
shouldnt the max def be 829? but i saw one with 831 def
I believe it’s because D2 always rounds up at each step of calculation.
481x1.5=721.5 = 722
722x1.15=830.3 = 831
Or it could be standard rounding, but sup always gets +1 def… seem to remember hearing that as well. Never was super important so never put a lot of thought into it.
oh thats well, thank you for info, much appreciate
This
481 x 15% = 72.15 rounded up to 73
481 + 73 = 554
554 x 50% = 277
554 + 277 = 831
No, on the contrary D2 uses truncation for a majority of its calculations so the decimals gets lopped off at each step.
What’s actually going on here is that any armor that spawns with ED% has its base defense set to maximum defense + 1, so an ethereal wire fleece with 15% ED has:
482 base defense (481 max defense + 1)
482 * 1.5 (ethereal bonus) = 723 defense
723 * 1.15 (15% ED) = 831.45 defense truncated to 831 defense.
Yeah I knew it was one of the two, couldn’t remember which. Just remember sup eth stuff usually being 2 def higher hehe. The truncation probably explains why they added the +1 to begin with. Effectively simulates rounding up. Guess it has the side benefit of making sup mod not entirely useless on very low def bases as well.
Then again never been a huge math guy. Did framing work. Rule of thumb was long as it was within a 1/4 inch, let the drywall guys figure it out.
