Old topic but figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask. I’m hearing things about USB File Transferring between Series X and PC. Not entirely sure if that’s even possible or how to do it from Series X Specifically. Accessing files on the console can be a pain.
Anyway; if anyone knows, please let me know. I appreciate it.
Offline characters cannot be transferred between platforms. Online characters are stored on the Battle.net servers and follow you between platforms so long as you have online capability on all platforms (for consoles that means paid subscriptions to their respective networks).
I tried transfering my pc char to ps5 without making a backup (damn boomer) and it corrupted the save completely when i tried to put it back in the save folder. There might be a way to do it but i can barely do anything with computers except playing.
You can’t do USB save copies to or from the PS5. The only way you can even have a backup of your saves is to back up the entire PS5 unless you pay for PS+. The reason you can’t do copies over USB is because the PS5 encrypts the saves and locks them. It’s both an anti-cheat prevention method and a security feature. Local saves cannot be transferred between platforms.
Yea i meant i didn’t do backups on my computer before trying to move em to ps5 so i had no working save files to fall back on after my experiment.
Erm…just out of curiosity, but why didn’t you simply copy your save instead of moving it? No need to back up the save if you’re working from a copy. 
I asked myself the same question after i did it. Think its my adhd that sometimes makes me do stuff without thinking em through. I simply get an itch and try to scratch it not thinking about the consequences 
Not that it matters in this case since i delete my saves from time to time to start over.
Can’t say I’m immune to the “uhhhh, what was I doing again?” syndrome. That accounts for about 90% of my trips into and out of the kitchen. So no worries - I ain’t laughing here. I can remember the exact layout of my preschool (which having a play area that required going up stairs would not be legal today), but damned if I can figure out what I was intending to do sixty seconds ago.
