Anyone going back to original D2 LoD?

Is there anyone else going back to Original D2 instead of Resurrected just because it’s more stable?

also, Ladder.

Nope, I’m going to stick with D2:R at least until after the first ladder. Help test, provide feedback, help make the game become as good and stable as it can be.

D2:R is FAAAR more stable connection wise for me. I’ve gotten about as many connection drops the entire time playing D2:R that I’d get in a night or two in OG D2.

As much as I like D2:LOD Don’t think I will go back to it neither stick with D2R for much longer.

Great blast from the past, time to move on to more modern games.

Pretty much same here.

Was a good blast from the past with slightly better gfx. Yet the game has nothing new, just boring grind. I leveled all characters into hell, most if not all beat hell and the only one i really stuck with with a WW barb since he is melee and can clear all content. Spin to win as they say.
POD was the best version of diablo i have ever played. Never tried the newer pd2 or w/e but im about all diablo’d out at this point. If i ever get the itch again it will likely be scratched by POD as they are not afraid to experiment and spice things up.

Honestly, I would go back to some mods for D2 LoD. Small communities but fun.

no. d2r has been running nearly flawlessly for me. if you think current state sucks, i find that classic d2 and old bnet had some really sucky things I never want to experience again…things like temp ban for making too many games, realm down, idle in game kick, characters aren’t permanent, crappy resolution, keeping track of log ins, etc… no thank you, d2r 4 lyfe

That’s about where I am too. I used to play LoD all the time back in the day, but the new D2R graphics aren’t pretty enough to distract from just how boring and repetitive the gameplay actually is (and always was tbh). I’ll probably give it a little longer after the patch drops to find out what changes it makes, but at this point I’m finding it pretty difficult to maintain much interest.

Nope. No plans to go back to original game. Even with Sven’s, looks terrible after playing so much with the new graphics. However, I am starting to slow down a bit on D2R. My Grief/CoH Pally is spoiling me, mixed with a dry spell and wanting to play other classes, but at end-game, most really are not fun. My Conviction Paladin is hitting too many slow points in Act 2 Hell, Full Mav Bowazon is ok, but she really can’t handle actually farming Chaos or WSK, Double Swing Barb with upped Butchers and full IK minus Maul is hitting that same slow point in Act 2 Hell (Attack Speed and damage issues), Zeal/Enchant Sorc is sitting at 63 with no desire to level her as she really wasn’t as neat as I was hoping, only use my full Tal Rasha FO/FB Sorc to farm Summoner/Countess/Meph, and I only use Javazon to farm Pindle/Cows, and it’s been two weeks since I bothered to do cows.

Sort of leaning towards picking up FF14 Endwalker expac since Early Access is this weekend (my weekend off) until the online smooths out more, and perhaps some updates. I’d like to see what they do with ladder and other updates, then I’ll make a decision on sticking to online or starting over in Single Player. I love the game, but Bnet burns me out. Outside of Normal and Nightmare Baal runs for XP, I have zero desire to play public games with the current loot system, it’s why I switched to SP mods to begin with.

From the 5 hour live maintenance window they have tonight, I have a feeling patch 2.03 is on it’s way this week. And while I have been looking forward to the skill bar/instant cast, it may be too little too late at this moment to compete with Endwalker. We shall see.

I probably will. This game is a buggy mess. They added a few quality of life features, but removed about 100 more via bugs. We’re what? 2-3 months into this game and they still haven’t fixed basic things like being able to identify items in the cube?

You are kidding right? More stable lol? Old D2 wasnt more stable at all.

I still play original D2.

There is still a large community playing today.

No because the resolution is a problem for my taste after being introduced to d2r.

Yeah anyone who left Diablo 2 and bought D2R did it for a reason… no one who purchased D2R after being inactive for 15+ years is going to go back to that mess… it’s more than half the reason we all left… bad QoL like having to refresh characters every week… no shared stash and having to rely on an alt account / friend to mule or transfer… hard pass on that idea.

Well most people still playing D2 today are playing the various online mods where PlugY is part of the mod so no need to mule anything and no need to refresh characters.

you were never a D2 player.
once anyone got a real taste of D2 the graphics become not important.

Nope, can’t stand the aspect ratio on a 21:9 monitor. Also it’s too bot infested.

D2R or no blizzard game for me atm.

playing both as i also want to play with large stash with plugy and d2dx for correct resolution.

I only would go to d2 lod If I need/want to play earlier patches, most likely before 1.10

Other than that, d2r pretty much are far better for me even with the current issues, most of them doesn’t bother me at all because I play mostly SSF or with a friends on private games.

On the other hand I would keep playing the other diablo games but also other games as well.

Usually I play those and enjoy my time on them: D1,D2R, D2 Lod/vanilla pre 1.10, D3, OW, BL2, BL3, EU4, Civ6, some racing games, Arcade collection, eventually DI and D4. Also I need some time to clear some nova ops on sc2 too and need to complete some wiiu and switch games also.

But time is short to do a ton of stuff so eventually I progress a bit on some of them and when I want chill I go for more casual ones.

Never was a fan of mods anyways. For me D1 and D2 shouldn’t had received some changes towards OP stuff, the best part of the game is the road, the adrenaline and risk going through the path. CtA, Enigma, sorc tp and stuff like that, for me is just plain boring and if I would play something I would rather not skip content because most of my best drops weren’t from the goal of farm, but from the foes in the path.

Same I would say for speed runs on d3 jumping between elites. Efficiency isn’t the same as fun, at least in there you have some challenge because you go against the clock, d2 you just repeat the midgame endless times until you get BiS and move on. Is fine up 120-130’s at less than 1k gons, but after that is just repetition after several paragon farms to clear higher levels, which often reflects on waste of time, while can be great log in and do some runs is not great spend more than a couple hours doing the same task.

Those games aren’t supposed to be played that long if you go to efficiency side, unless you getting something out of it. That’s why oddball builds and off-meta builds become popular when folks just want to chill and enjoy their time, instead of button smashing or speed blinking their way through the content.

In that regard D1 beat D2 and D3. You don’t exactly skip stuff, so each step on the journey has some impact. Also your decisions are more meaningful.

Diablo franchise has special place on my heart but doesn’t mean I don’t know the flaws of each one of them. Also doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy other games also.

As general advice: if you having fun, you’re doing great. Otherwise you should rethink what you’re doing.

Nah D2R is superior.

Lol not true. The graphics from D2 looks totally terrible and gives some headache. only blind fanboys plays the old realle worse graphic.
