Title. The game population has seemed to have tanked recently, over the last couple of weeks. I play quite a bit and am seeing less and less both on the trade forums, and in game. It seems to me that ladder is going to further scatter players (and yes it may bring back players also). I’m not opposed to the changes, but it makes me sad to see less and less open games going on and ladder will further divide people.
I notice that too. There aren’t many open games lately. Maybe they are all exciting about the changes xd.
True that. The other problem is character limit per account. I am already at max.
they waited for the hype to be almost null and let everyone find something else to do before coming up with ladder news.
ofc youre not excited.
maybe it’ll be so good were all gonna get hyped up again… despite d2jsp…
damn its hard to have good faith around here.
Yeah, I kind of dropped the game a few days ago. Finally got my Infinity, then zoomed around blasting things, got bored fast.
But, I was most frustrated at my inability to complete even generous trades. Market feels dead, dead, dead.
So, it’s probably best for me to take a break, then perhaps return for ladder, maybe not. The limits of D2’s, and therefore D2R’s design/non-existent end game don’t offer a lot of incentive to replay the ladder.
It doesn’t help that almost all my character slots are taken, so being able to play/mule will probably be too limited for me to retain interest, if I find any at all by then.
Once they announced ladder I stopped playing and started waiting and playing other games. No point to me to waste my time until then. Then I will waste all of my time…
No. Majority are very excited for Ladder.
Non-ladder was always dead and it will be in D2R.
Personally I stopped playing roughly 5 weeks ago (I think). Did dip in every now and then.
My main reason is that I ran out of storage space and soon running out of character slots too. Until they add more or charge us for more (optional to each player), there’s no point to play much at the moment.
Ladder never interested me. I am a very slow player and pretty much hate anything with a time limit on it from the get go. Even with the lure of Insight and other runeword items, I never really indulged on ladder anyways. Some weeks I am lucky to have an hour available for gaming and it’s not like I can plan these ahead of time either. So ladder is not good for me.
It’s not that I am tired of the game per say, it’s just that I ran out of room already.
So in the meantime I am playing old D2:LOD, which allows me to play my single player character with friends on the week end and jack it up to P8 anyways… D2R still have some growing to do to keep me playing. Right now it’s not quite at that level.
If non ladder was always dead and it will be in d2r, why do you think ladder will be any different?
Oh I’m sure a few , maybe even a few hundred hardcore fans will be on ladder. But that will only leave the few who don’t join playing an empty game.
I fear for ladder actually. It may be what drives even the already dwindling population to quit entirely, leaving a small handful or hardcore fans to their game, alone.
Stopped playing over a month ago. Will start playing when ladder begins
Beginning of Ladder will see the most online activity. It will dwindle down again after a month or so though. But, refreshing every 4 months could be good to keep interest alive.
Because Ladder always had the higher portion of players?
Are you asking me if D2R won’t have many players? I don’t know what to tell you, it was never the most popular game. But Ladder will always be active enough.
is this your first time?
game always dies off then gets populated again during ladder
as with most arpg games with ladders/seasons/leagues
Maybe in 2004 when they weren’t other options of games to play
this must be your first time with this game or you haven’t played in 20 years or you are a single player, player
this is how it’s always been
ladder is always 10000000x more populated than non ladder
this is 10000000000x times not true at all lol
ladder always has the most players, always will
the game goes in cycles
start of ladder sees the most players than it dwindles until the start of the next ladder
that’s how it is in PoE and D3 as well
there is nothing different or anything to be afraid of……
unless you plan on only playing non ladder, in which case, why would you do that?
Probably because not everyone has an unlimited amount of time to play the game and the only thing ladder does is completely reset your play
10 non-ladder vs 20 ladder.
Ladder idea killed the game. Population dropped hard since rumor of ladders.
Most people will not back because they aren’t oligophrenic to play zero for 2 runewords each 3 months
I’m looking forward to the changes coming with ladder (at least, for now) and will wait the additional 4 months on NL to get them more than likely =)
To answer your question, it will further scatter people some but the increased population at ladder will make it up for those people who participate in ladder. Non-ladder will go fairly dead but ./shrug
that is not true at all lol
game dropped because people are anticipating ladder
