Ancient tunnels bad drop

Hey what is your experience in ancient tunnels online? I have done honestly like 400 runs and barely got anything with 500% MF. Just trash unique and set items but not even often. I am confused if i am just ultra unlucky or what is going on because yesterday in single player i was just completing game and was showered By uniques and sets with 260% mf, it was on players 3 but still. I dont remember having so bad luck in AT since i started playing D2. Its making me mad lol.

aside from a gris weapon and a Lo rune, nothing special in AT. But I don’t run them frequently.

I think the worst part about AT after so long is it’s boring and the setting isn’t the greatest and the enemies are slow and easy yeah but also kinda annoying. This all adds up to make it miserable to farm more than a few times a day, for me anyway. And there are plenty of other areas/zones which I like more. And then I have also never had much any luck with AT, too

I usualy do like 20-40 runs and i am done with it. What is suprising is lack of usable uniques sets and their number in general. Atleast i found lightning skiller there yesterday.

Amount of magic shakos i found there is insane.

Never seen HRs or anything of value from AT as of yet. Probably done at least 100 runs.

Did quite a few runs in AT in D2R and haven’t found anything good there really. I used to find a lot of stuff there on the private servers, but the drop rates were turned up. I just avoid farming there now as there’s better density elsewhere.

I dont care about density, i kill only unique and champion monsters really for best effectivity.

I havent counted how many, but i mf’d it from level 75, and im now level 91. had about 350 mf. The only 2 things ive gotten from there are 2 phase blades and they were both az’s wrath. other than that, about 400,893,498 Sigon and angelic pieces.

Nothing special from tunnels yet here either m8

Waste of time unless you’re solo finding all your own gear.

Stick to Andy and meph. Diablo is good too if you can run it fast.

I not interested in trash from Andy or meph. I want elite stuff. Highest TC classes items.

I’ve been quite lucky in there, I have done less than 500 runs for sure, but haven’t really kept track of exactly how many. I think it’s around 250-400. My best loot includes 2 Ohm runes, SoJ and a Death’s Fathom (which rolled perfect dmg!). I’ve found some other uniques aswell but not very valuable ones.

AT takes quite a bit longer to clear online than offline due to map rng, which I feel is the biggest problem. Otherwise I actually enjoy the area.

Literally the only thing i want is tyreals might. The only item i have not had drop for me. ancient tunnels seems like thebest way to find it solo.

Areas like Pit and AT aren’t really that special in my mind. The only thing that sets them apart is that the monsters are Lv 85 so the boss packs and champions are capable of rolling 87 TC. So they can drop any items in the game. But honestly, they don’t have higher chance to drop more or higher quality items than other areas in Hell, save a very small chance to drop GG items but it’s astronomically small.

So given that I have the capability, I always go for Chaos/Baal to farm. At least Chaos has ghost type monsters that have higher chance to drop runes, map is static, monsters give a lot of exp, and Diablo act boss as a cherry on top. Baal throne room is a good place for exp. In the long run, you will be better off farming those two than Pit or AT IMO. If those two areas are too difficult, then I would consider AT but usually, you need to farm Andy/Meph if you aren’t strong enough for Chaos, not AT. Just my 2 cents.

Baal and chaos are way too slow vs ancient tunnels in comparison tho.

I clear tunnels in one minute.

I can understand Baal being slow because Baal likes to laugh too much but Chaos too??

Chaos has more mobs and probably larger than typical AT so it may take up to 3-4 minutes but I still think it’s pretty fast. You have to pause for a bit for Diablo to spawn but it’s not a long wait like Baal.

Edit: does that 1 minute include the time to search for the trap door if you are online?

As long as you farm Hell difficulty you are fine. All zones in Hell are lvl67+ and more than 25 areas in the game are lvl85. On Projectdiablo . com there is a chart you can use to determine the zone levels. Use the chart and make a list of areas to run, don’t run the same places all the time, you’ll burn yourself out.

Make some friends and get in a game with as many people as possible and everyone splits up or in reasonable groups that ensure a good pace and fastest clear time. MORE things you kill with higher levels is WAY BETTER than having 1000% MF and killing slow. This is really the only way to farm if you are after runes and good runeword bases.

My check list for farming out a game:

Mausoleum

Start from City of the Damned waypoint and add River of Flame to your run prior to CS/Diablo. River of Flame is area level 85.

Although it’s area level 84, City of the Damned is pretty good for farming as well.
