Amazon - what would you change in skills

Hey, I dont want to wait for Blizzard to improve diablo 2 Resurrected so i decided to do it myself atleast for offline play with some modding. I am thinking about various ideas, but I would like to hear from others too so thats why i make this topic.

I would like to hear from you what is wrong with Amazon, Is something too strong? Is something too weak? should some skills be changed? Maybe some skills does cost too much mana or should do more, maybe new synergies between skills to make new builds? Maybe is something too strong? Maybe complete skill replacement? Please share any idea how you think sorceress skills could be improved or changed and try to explain why if you can.

I am open to any suggestion and like all ideas but try to not go too radical, i am trying to improve d2 and make mostly better what already exist. Not create 10 completely new skills :slight_smile:

Haha, I did make a thread here earlier about this, but more towards the bowazon and what I’d like to see improved in patch 2.5 around her.

But… for things not related to bowazons.

Lightning Fury and Charged Strike are in fairly broken states at the moment. The core of the problems around these skills is both the damage and the number of bolts released increase fairly consistency to create this exponential damage scaling effect.

I don’t have any specific changes to suggest for this, but it strongly needs to be at least reviewed.

make immolation arrow follow nearest target slowly and when it hits just goes off like a nuclear explosion damaging all normal monsters in screen wide range and knocking any survivors out of the blast zone.

unrelated to your topic Zax but i wanted to share 1 of my idea for 2.5…think of them as super elite facets or Gem.i also wanted to avoid too much creep so only 1 piece get rly powered up effects(shield)…although i’d be curious to wat ya think of them

NEW GEMS(drop from lvl 85 areas only and are just as rare as a Jah Rune)
can ONLY BE socketed IN UNIQUES items

I enjoy all aspects of Amazon, but what I would like to see is more love towards the 2 handed spear build. Bow has magic/fire/cold damage, while spear/jav has mainly lightning (psn is kind of low so not going to worry about it). I’d like to see 2 handed spear get some magic damage thrown it’s way, and maybe some more runeword attention towards it. I know you can go ham with infinity for the conviction, or obedience for fire damage, but it feels like people would still prefer the merc carry infinity while zon goes Titans or Tstroke. I dunno, I’d just really like to see the melee aspect of a spear zon shine a bit more

I’d focus on improving the elemental bow skills:

Either A) have freezing/explosive arrow synergize off each other to make dual spec builds a bit more fair or
B) MOVE one of the freezing/explosive arrow synergies to magic arrow and have it add +10% magic damage per level to more easily mitigate immunity issues

I’d probably also make each HARD point in impale increase the amazon move speed by 1%. Melee spearazons have REALLY low mobility compared to other melee builds and this holds them back a bit.

Beef up the elemental bow tree, I get having to balance it with pierce, but a level 50 elemental bow skill doing 2.5k is utterly pathetic.

Fend still sucks, but I’m not sure there’s any fixing that one unless she can just hit the same target multiple times.

So does impale, but if she got similar frames to a smiter, it would be maybe more common to see?

Magic arrow could see a bump in damage and 100% damage converted.

Lit jav, psn jav, Jab, and physical bow skills are all fine. Passives are fine.

Impale

  • Increase the attack speed of impale. The above is a good suggestion to increase it by each skill point invested. ( it does not need to be fast, but it is currently overly slow )
  • Allow deadly strike, and critical strike to apply

Valkyrie ( The thought here is to allow for an actual full passive / valkyrie build )

  • Decoy provides additional synergy bonus of 1 additional Valkyrie summon per every 4 levels ( resulting in 6 total Valkyrie summons with level 20 Decoy synergy )
  • Allow Valkyrie to be equipped with items like mercenaries
    • Include warning before allowing stat resetting ( similar to mercenaries )
  • Penetrate synergy at level 20 provides Valkyrie(s) with “uninterruptible, always hits”

Here are my proposed changes to Amazon…

  • Cold Arrow - increase range to be the same as Fire Arrow (reduced range for Cold Arrow persists for both Amazon and Act 1 Cold Rogue)
  • Ice Arrow - buff damage as skill is single target (e.g. double damage as compared to Freezing Arrow and would make skill more valuable versus bosses and elites)
  • Impale - benefits from critical strike and deadly strike (arbitrary this single-target skill is unable to crit, apart of Amazon’s repertoire)

The -flat amount is actually better in this case. It removes the defense from their base calculation before other things like shout or holy shield are applied.

true, i just tested inner sight (flat) vs battle cry ( percent) and not much difference. Inner sight provided a little higher reduced.

If I were to provide a more definitive answer on this:

Lightning Fury

  • Decrease the damage scaling on the skill between levels 1 and 35, but increase the damage scaling on skill levels 36 onwards, such that a level 45 Lightning Fury skill still retains its current damage levels, but anything lower has a dip in power

  • Increase the base number of bolts from 2 to 5 at skill level 1, but decrease the number of bolts scaling from 1 per level to 1 bolt every 2 levels

  • Rationale: Make budget javazons still somewhat challenging, but still preserve most of javazon’s power once they have attained their expensive gear

Charged Strike

  • Add a Next Hit Delay on Charged Strike of 1 frame

  • Rationale: Power Strike is the intended skill for taking down single targets. Charged Strike is the skill for taking down the immediate target plus targets behind it

With the Amazon, I would like Physical bow skills and shots to have some sort of tracer. Half the time I’m watching a physical bowazon shoot the entire screen, but her arrows are so tiny and small to see in the sea of particle effects that I wonder how satisfying it can really be to play one.

I’m not suggesting huge changes but some sort of “tracer” arrow mixed into it.

I personally don’t like more summoner builds.

But a better valk I’m all for

Mechanics Changes:
Decoy attacks; but only deals a fraction of the player’s damage. I’m thinking weapon damage and dexterity only.

Player can conjure 1 additional decoy every 10 levels; but they are individually conjured. Meaning you cast it twice to create two.

Valkyrie

Conjured valkyrie has Jab, Impale, Rend, Charged Strike or Lightning Strike. Which attack it has and uses is dependent on which valkyrie is conjured (armor color).

Javelin and Spear

Impale

Remove Durability penalty

Level 1:
Damage: +200%
Slows Enemies: 11%
Range: +1

Level 20:
Damage: +775%
Slows Enemies: 63%
Range: +3

Synergy:
Jab increase attack speed by 2% per level.
Fend increase damage by 25% per level.

Mechanics Change:
Impale hits all enemies in a line. Weapon range matters, so a polearm will naturally strike farther than a javelin.

Damage: +50%
Magic Damage: +20%

Level 20
Attack Rating: +230%
Damage: +240%
Magic Damage: +115%

Synergies:
Jab increases attack speed by 2% per level.
Impale increases damage by 10% per level

Mechanics Change:
Obviously added magic damage. Also add knockback

Impale:
Jab synergy: 2.5% IAS per level(Skill IAS)
Fend synergy: +0.1 radius per level

Impale needs an Attack speed boost so Skill IAS via Jab would be invaluable to offset Decrepify and lessen the need for Fanaticism. The other synergy gives Impale an AoE of 2 yards, meaning anything within 2 yards of the target gets a Spear in the face, allowing you to hit multiple targets at once.

Penetrate: -1% Enemy Physical Resistance

This would instantly make Penetrate a 20 point investment for Bow and Spear builds and works like Rainbow facets/Cold Mastery in that it doesn’t apply against immune monsters(need a curse to break).

Make the Valks a tad bit weaker make the skill increase summons per 6 levels, so a max of 9 valks possible if you wanted to be a dork about it with all +skills, but you would miss out on aura items like beast and faith, so about 4 with a decent valk with auras set-up.

Yea, i want a summonzon.
Would love to have an “army” of amazons with me on my Fendzon.

Do the same with Shadow Master as well.
