Seriously I could care less about any PVP I don’t care if monsters are set too easy to kill, all I want is to wander around slowly in single-player and enjoy the new graphics, I would love to do this in full super ultra-wide, but someone complained and then blizzard decided to appease them, despite the fact the job was done.
Maby not every player is looking for an edge or some BS statistic to click someone to death faster, maby some of us are in our late 30’s to '40s and remember playing this with our mates in high school and just want to do that alone now, that’s what nostalgia is after all. if I’m allowed to ill probably cheat any way because I like god mode in games it gives me time to just wander around looking at things, look I get a different level of experience out of this sort of stuff, always did.
am I alone? does no one else just want the game for nostalgia and to cruise through at leisure to relax and enjoy not to compete?
Edit: there is a huge focus in the responses here on the fact I would be happy to use legitimate single-player non hacked cheat codes in games, I’m sorry I’m not as saintly as some people who have never in their life heard the words “there is no cow level” (starcraft)
honestly get a life, I play how I damn well like that’s kind of the point of my post.
if I want to set up a board game of monopoly and build a pyramid of hotels on Mayfair its my board game I should be able to I’m literally telling you you don’t have to play with me.
No, you most certainly are not the only old school single-player left.
(I was 28 when the original Diablo was released, and I’ve been single-player the whole time. I’m in my 50s now.)
The game logic is still running on a 4:3 screen ratio, specifically referencing monster aggro distances. Ultrawides would give the single player an advantage on the left/right of the screen. So, this would would harm the player experience versus what it was originally.
I am in the same boot as you, I couldn’t care less about pvp, ladder or competition. I just wanna play the game in singleplayer at my own pace, killing monsters, farming stuff, making fun builds, trying builds out, doing the holy grail challenge, enjoying the new graphics and so on.
i disagree with that part , cheating wouldn’t give me the accomplished feeling of holy grail in self loot etc…
nothing about competition , just simply i wouldn’t live it the same and wouldn’t play as much if i ever did so i never will and never intend to.
That being said , yes as long as you enjoy the game , anything is fine really , you can cheat your way in solo offline i guess while some can have their competition online.
Personally i’ll be on my own self looting in ladder and play with a bunch of friends as we used to for a long while.
Speaking of widescreen doesn’t concern me i play on laptop but they should simply allow said option as long as the game is set to be one player only , it wouldn’t change anything pvp wise that way.
and not allowing it in offline single player is just plain silly in my opinion.
Not at all. I only play SP or solo. I don’t play video games because I want to be with other people. I engage in normal social activities, and play video games for escape.
Online gaming is a nightmare of all the worst things in human beings. I avoid it like the plague.
There are many, many players like us - probably the majority of Diablo purchasers over the years.
You know, killing a monster that is 3 screens away from you just because the game was developed to run in 4:3 and now you can run it in 32:9 is not funny. that is called a broken game and that is why they fixed it.
It is fine if you enjoy that, of if you enjoy cheat codes or whatever, but if you are in your late 30s as you say, you have to understand that blizzard cant assume releasing a game that is broken.
You know why I want wide screen I have this huge Samsung super ultra wide and i just want to see level data to my left and right, black bars on this scale of screen is over 50% of the screen, its frankly game breakingly bad to play. I don’t think anyone at blizzard has actually seen how stupid their game looks like this.
All I’m saying is that these are the kind of issues that happen when you’re using the same game logic from a 21 year old game. This is one of the key points that David Brevik mentioned about why it would be difficult to remaster Diablo 2. The only way around this would have been to rebuild (remake) the game from the ground up. You can probably imagine how well that would have went seeing how much of an uproar there is from the relatively few changes that have been made with D2:R so far.
I had a thought a while back about Blizzard making fixed ‘aggro ghosts’ to the left and right of the character depending on your screen ratio. Something that probably can’t be added, or would be very difficult to add to the game.
As far as PVP, everyone that is involved in hostility gets instant 4:3 ratio, but I do feel that unless PVP becomes mutual, some would use this to annoy others.
That’s a Valid point of view but from my point of view that’s not broken its just fun.
the thing is the option should be there that way players like yourself can disable it and just have thier experiance the same as i want mine.
also im 36 but believe me age has nothing to do with wisdom, think about people that vote in the world.
