See topic. No crash, just normal shutdown on ps4pro. Char rilled back 9 lvls. Really sux!
Edit: after loading up the char again i noticed that here are some things saved: the map from my original playtrough is still there, also my skill bindings. so only my char progress wasn`t saved…

I started a character for “offline” mode yesterday thinking maybe I wont have any disconnects or loss of progress… So “offline” characters still save to “online”? ack… whats the purpose of offline?!
This is how save system works in d2 tho. You need to exit game to save. No checkpoints. Crash/shutdown of console equivalent to alt+f4.

I was gonna say, this is the case, you have to manually do a save and exit for the game to save. there are no autosave points.
purpose of offline? - easy to answer
you have the disadvantage of lost online saves, without the normal stability of local saves
but even if you wanted to play multiplayer, you cannot make new friends with the nonexistent meet&greet of multiplayer lobbies
and even if you manage to be in a multiplayer game, I want in game text chat with a keyboard, how do you even get the playstation ID of strangers?
a bonus would be to use mouse and keyboard in game just like on a pc, on my pc I can switch between a controller and the classic way
Except we are doing Save & Exit…exit game cleanly…load back up offline save…mass progression lost.
It is not limited to crashing, and even if it was I see the save icon spinning yet I am reverted several, SEVERAL levels before that save.

Not even true. In classic d2 progress would always be saved even with alt f4. I am still playing the game up until now. Otherwise hardcore would be a joke.
But for major point reread ny post: i did save and exit and shut down my console normally. Character progress still was not saved, although map exploration was, for what it’s worth…
You’re probably right about classic and me, particular my memories are wrong. But that’s means the system on consoles in remaster works differently. You can even test it on new character. If you suddenly close the game, turn off console all progress will be lost. So I guess save file is “cumulative” or something.
Never buying another Blizzrd game. you spend thousands of hours remastering this game and you arent smart enough to add an auto save. Or even a manual save with a message that says, remember to save your game, no auto save enabled. But all you have is a save and exit game. I dont want to exit my game. it respawns all the mobs and starts you back in town. Learn how to release a good game. my power went out after 3 hours of gameplay. Everything lost. Are you kidding me. Im so pissed im going to try and get a refund from the playstation store. Thanks for nothing.
Aaaaaaaaand it happened again. Cme on blizzard… Game crashed i guess because the update hit, and another evenings peogrss gone for good. I get the impression that playing SP is even worse than all the multplayer fails…
I haven’t lost any character levels or anything, but most of the time I will lose the entire map that I cleared the last time I played. I have also lost gold in my shared stash which I posted in a different forum. I am playing offline on a ps5 on normal difficulty.
I was playing an assassin lvl 46 nl offline had a crash and lost my char … exited the game and now she is only lvl 37 and have to do act 1-2 act 2 all over again for real ?? 3th time b4 not so bad now lost 4 hours of time and lost my stuff aswell … there goes al dropped stuff next time this happen I’m asking for a refund goddammmit
