I hope so! Everyone cross your fingers.
=D
Early Alpha are like more for devs families, just prey for a bêta before holiday summer.
Well this ones an alpha with open signup, no real mystery behind this one, they have had it floating around blizzard staff for awhile now. The alpha will just be limited. Streamers will be allotted room, press and so on, then a batch to toss to everyone. Alpha usually means things aren’t locked down, or they wanna see how things look. Beta’s while they could still add content is usually just assessing current setup. As this game does not need a real beta, I don’t know if they will even have one.
In devs panel they said they have a beta phase for the remaster graphics. It’s strange if they skip beta when they have an alpha for everyone.
Honesty at this point I’m just hoping I know when they are out so I can stop checking 3-4 times a day
For once I agree with you. Alpha is a huge tease I would rather wait for release so I can go all out!
They will be able to stream.
There is a private Alpha, yes. That is staff only usually during early game development/testing.
Friends and Family is usually in the first wave of the Closed Alpha/Beta testing that the press and streamers/influencers also get access to.
Exactly. QA decides how many testers they need and then the pool is filled. F&F, streamers/press/influencers, and the rest is random from the people who opted in. The F&F + streamers is usually a tiny fraction of the overall test group - they are just the most visible.
I have not seen anything official about dates. The first place you usually see Alpha/Beta access is your launcher. Restart it and double check the D2R drop down menu on that tab. And remember, you don’t have to be the first person on there if you get lucky enough to get in ![]()
I have my fingers crossed for a June 29th release for the game though - probably wishful thinking because it was the D2 release date.
I might delete that end of this sentence.
1 april they announce it, with titel. NOT a out of season aprils fool:)
Exciting times even if ya don’t get a invite streamers will get to stream. Will give the community a great look at all those beautiful updated graphics
I hope, at least, a Beta for Pre-Orderd ![]()
I’m hoping they see my old-ish hardware and decide they need to see how it runs on a potato.
Considering the extreme emphasis on legacy and preserving the D2 experience exactly as it was, this actually is a pretty safe assumption as they are doing everything as a nod to the original. Along with the fact that this is just a re-skin so its Alpha/Beta phases will be much quicker than a full new game.
My 2013 laptop is here for that. Not kidding. I am actually rather worried it won’t work on my computer.
I do have a hand-me-down PC that I could use if I get a monitor for it and get it updated. That is at least a couple years newer.
I wonder how many people made 5000 accounts to apply for the alpha
5000 accounts with the same hardware spec (or combo of that and IP’s) could probably be sniffed out pretty easily, you could always increase your odds somehow but probably not worth the effort.
You had me thinking for a split second lol but I have patience.
i was also surprised that the “recommended” specs for D2R is a 1060. i didn’t realize the graphics improved THAT much. I knew i’d have to upgrade for D4, but not the remaster lol
That’s probably because of the reskinned graphics. From what I’ve seen so far, it looks that it uses the D4 graphics engine. I’m not sure if switching to the original graphics would make a difference. But, if we were going to do that, we might as well just keep our original D2:LoD.
It might also be because it will be played on the new(er) Battle․net global server. (Is my lack of computer technical knowledge starting to show?)
My rig is starting to show its age at 5 years. Luckily, it has a 1080. I hope it lasts for D4.
Come to think of it… I hope I last for D4. ![]()
I’ll stream the alpha for sure if I get an invite.
Doubt I’ll get in in the first round.
Perhaps I’ll make the second round where they send out to a larger number that aren’t immediate friends and family.
I wonder if Friends and Family even exists as a thing anymore.
