Allow Grim Ward to be castable on all corpses

Grim ward can’t be cast on skeletons, which makes no sense.

Let grim ward be castable on all corposes, and this would improve p5+ Barb by a significant margin.

Maybe the flesh and blood of slain enemies is required to mix with dirt to make a mortar to hold the ward together. Think along the lines of Rigor Mortis of muscles and blood coagulating and drying when exposed to air.

Since animated skeletons have neither flesh or blood, they don’t have all of the ingredients to make a Grim Ward, the grizzly creation only a barbarian is capable of. :man_shrugging:

Besides, theres nothing wrong with having areas that are more difficult than others with certain skill sets. Never rely on a single tactic in this game, always have a backup plan, even if it is running. :slight_smile:

Just seems like Barbarians should have 1 build that lets them solo P8.

There are several sorc, paladin and assassin builds that are capable.

Which is a problem in itself… It should not be “corrected” by making all other classes capable of doing the same thing. That would be contributing to adding more power creep to the game.

What needs to happen is the builds that are players 8 solo capable need to be smacked a few good times with a nerf bat. Along with Mosaic, the overpowered 1.10 runewords need to be dialed down some, as they were originally meant to be impossibly difficult to piece together with the pre 1.13 rune drop rates.

But Blizzard doesn’t want to do this, as it would induce heavy amounts of whine… Because the noobs of the game would have to actually start thinking their way through situations instead of just blindly click-steamrolling through the game.

Steamrolling through /players 1 with a well geared character is perfectly fine.

I originally shared this opinion (that GW should be usable on all corpses) as well and made my own post about it, but I’ve reconsidered since then and I’m fine with how it is right now.

I still wouldn’t mind using it on all corpses but it does add a layer of strategy to not be able to use the same tactic at all times and it can be played around. Try luring a fleshy enemy from elsewhere to use their corpse or use Lawbringer for Sanctuary and Decrepify, there’s lots of potential solutions.

I was thinking instead of changing Grim Ward to be usable on all corpses, what about we change the synergy? Find Potion synergy doesn’t make sense and think Howl is a more thematic choice…

  • Grim Ward - remove Find Potion synergy and add the following new synergy:
    • Howl: +5% Damage Taken per level

as a doggo i got nada to deal with phsyical immunes in my skillset

rabies and fireclaws are complete garbage even when maxed… you have this and a 1 point wonder in berserk

I agree with the thematic choice, but having the synergy on find item lets the barb item find as well as have fast clear speed.

Just nicer to play, when Trav TZ comes up etc.
