All items gone after death

Hello.

I just lost all my items on my Level 81 sorc that i’ve been putting alot of hours into.

It happend as i got zerged by glooms in Act 3, couldnt recover my body and had to relog to get it back to town. Once i picked up the corpse it only contained my chest armor.

I’ve searched the forums and found similar topics, people saying Blizzard refuses to restore the Items

If that is the case, i will most likely never play a Blizzard game again. Knowing that all of the hours i spent on getting to the gear level i had. Countless hours spent getting some realy good Runewords together. All thrown down the drain.

And all because of what? Blizzard not backing up our characters?

If that is the case, all our character data could be lost at any time. meaning all our time and energy put into the game would be meaningless.

Anyone have any ideas on what i can try?

While I went from big Blizzard supporter since Lost Vikings to boycotting them for terrible service from the Overwatch moderators, I’d still say, have you made a ticket?

I tried. “We can’t restore deleted characters or gear in Diablo II: Resurrected. We apologize for the inconvenience.” Is the message you get after browsing through categories.

I Guess i could try creating a ticket under a distant related topic and hope for the best. But the information i gathered from reading other forum posts, kind of tells me it’s useless.

Ask them to tell you why it happened, how to avoid the bug, to fix the bug.

I have now created a ticket. I went as far as to ask how they secure our character data in case of malfunction/technical issues / Cyber attacks. as they say the data cannot be restored.

While looking for more info, i saw several entries about “known bugs” that items can disappear that havent been updated for almost 2 years.

The only way for blizzard to restore your character is to roll back every player to that point in time and as you can guess upsetting 10, 100, 1000 or how many that is still playing d2r to make you happy is not something they will do.

I play single player and back up my saves since i don’t trust blizz.

Don’t get me wrong i feel for you and it sucks to lose progress but it kind of is what it is.

I doubt they are unable to. Since they both have cross-“save” with battlenet accounts being abbled to be linked to PSN/XBOX accounts it must mean that characters are indeed seperated on an individual level. Hence restoring one would not mean rolebacking every character.

I think it’s more of a “not worth the effort” decission made by the devs. Since the game is not a tripple A title.

Was it your actual armor? Or did you pick up an item on the way to try and recover your corpse? If you pick up an item (even by accident) and die again, you create a new corpse with maybe just a gray helmet on it, which would be the one to spawn in town once you get back into the game.

It was the correct armor. That’s why i think it’s strange

“couldn’t recover my body” which means you attempted to run naked back into the zerg. You accidently picked up a chest piece. Died again, made a new game and it only has the loot of your last body. Don’t lie and say “it’s strange because it was my normal chest” no it wasn’t. This has happened to tens of thousands of players. I’ve even done this like 5 times over the years. Don’t make a ticket, you messed up, not Blizzard. Stop trying to act like the victim. You made a mistake. Get back to farming. Gl

This is not a bug, it’s how d2 works. You picked up some other items when trying to retrieve your body and died again, let it be a lesson.

Considering your character was lvl 81 I suspect you didn’t have anything of value on you so you should be able to gear up very quickly again.

You failed to read the entire post. I recovered my chest piece from the body in town. Since i didnt manage to pick up even 1 body this is not the issue

While I do sympathize with your dilemma, the line:

is nothing but a temper tantrum, and it makes your case look bad. As for losing the gear of a level 81 sorc? Pfft, it takes me a couple of weeks to get a capable level 81 sorc, and that’s playing casually. There are many others who can get this done in a single day.

If you’re playing softcore and you die, and if you want exactly zero risk of losing your gear, DON’T TRY AND GET YOUR BODY… Exit the game immediately after death. Create a new game, and your body will be on the ground in town with all of your gear minus any potions that may not have been able to fit in your personal inventory.

Blizzard won’t restore online characters and/or lost items for any reason, and for a very good reason… Everyone and their brother that lost items and/or character due to [any imaginable excuse here] would be requesting Blizzard to do it.

Local game characters can be backed up and restored. C:\users\username\saved games\Diablo II Resurrected\ Back up all “charname” files. You can even cheat death in Hardcore by restoring a backed up character… Which kind of defeats the idea of playing Hardcore in the first place, but it can be done.

If you want to put ease on your mind, think of it as a character that was hardcore and call it a permanent character death, except you get to keep your characters level progression and the armor piece that you happened to salvage from the debacle. Pick up/vendor some cheap gear, drop down to a manageable difficulty level and farm some more gear.

Yeah, there are minor issues with how item values and character bodies work, but they have existed for over two decades now and are manageable.

Your character and items are your responsibility. Only you can find the items and level your character, and only you can lose them.

I did read the entire post. Hence why I called you a liar because you claim it’s your original chest piece and it’d not. You are not alone, like has happened to almost EVERYONE. So stop whining. You messed up.

LvL 81 Sorc can be made in two days to a week, depending on how long a play session is.

It couldn’t have been that many, if you were merely lvl 81. Unless that’s a gear you acquired over a long period of time and you decided to use it on a brand new character.

How many times did you die? Was it just once, or did you die multiple times?

I’ve never heard about this sort of thing.

You saying, that you didn’t manage to pick up even one body suggests, that there were multiple bodies of yours lying around.

From now on, if you die once, upon spawning in town, just exit the game and make a new one. That way you can make sure, that you’ll get your stuff.

If you insist on remaining in the same game for whatever reason, ask a friend to join you and help you recover your body.

I am not sure it’s entirely his fault. Clearly a new player, that is confused from what a game, that came out 23 years ago fails to communicate to the player in advance.

I would advise, that… instead of a temper tantrum, the person asks for donations. There’s plenty of people on NL, that would deck him out in gear, that I imagine would be much better than what he had before for free.

i know you didn’t want to play hardcore, but just think of it as a hardcore character…

do you use jsp? if you’re not opposed to using jsp i would donate some gold so you can remake your build since your character is still alive.

Nice! Now imagine playing hardcore. LOL
A friend told me about similar situation last year. Not sure why this happens, but it does. I play hartdcore and can’t tell because I do not die. LOL
