It’s probably 5 people or less, most likely less, working on D2R at any capacity at this point. D2R isn’t making them money anymore so it gets the bare minimum.
Robert Gallerani hasn’t been with the company for about 3 years. He was the former head of development for D2:R. AFAIK Blizzard hasn’t replaced him.
D2:R has already sold ~99% of the copies that it will ever sell… It’s a dried up turnip. As far as Blizzard is concerned, it’s not about having a soul or love for the game anymore, as CEOs and shareholders are full of greed… Money money money! Working for free on little ole non-lucrative D2R is the last thing the CEOs and shareholders looking to line their pockets want.
So you’re telling me if you operated a business, you would increase the number of people on a team that makes virtually no money for you? They are running this ALMOST as bare minimum as classic d2. “Almost” because we still get events like the days up to Christmas bonuses which we never got for 20+ years in classic d2lod…
People need to realize, just like classic, d2r will never make them enough money to care. The amount of money made pales in comparison to immortal and d4. They are just going to keep the lights on (which is far better than the majority of online games which fall into obscurity within a couple years and servers go bye bye)
