ACT 2 Nightmare Mercenary Changing himself to Normal Merc

My Act 2 Nightmare mercenary with holy freeze has since changed himself to the Normal version with prayer aura. It shows thorns aura in the Hireling inventory page. It is healing me. What happened to my holy freeze? Does just entering a normal game with a nightmare merc convert it to a normal merc?

I’m having the same issue. I hired a Might merc in A2 NM and he keeps changing to Blessed Aim anytime I die or he dies or I relog.

I’ve had the reverse problem, but the same type of thing. My Prayer merc from Normal has seemingly converted to a Thorns merc, and I’m only in Act 1 Nightmare. (although that’s just how it reads in the character window… he just has NO aura in combat)

Yeah this happens for some reason. it didnt used to work this way. fix plz blizz

same issue here. I am adding some more informations mentioned below.

The helper’s auras in act 2 do not change between difficulty levels. A merc on Normal, Nightmares, and Hell has a different aura although it is the same with the same name and level.

  1. Start the game
  2. Enter the nightmare
  3. recruit a helper with a Might aura
  4. quit the game
  5. create a game on the hell level
  6. note that the merc has a different aura than the one you just purchased on the Nightmare level

I have tried this many time also - I go to nightmare to get a defensive merc but then it changes to another act2 difficulty type merc & skill

We observed this two, but we did not quite figure out whether it was just an UI bug in the merc interface, because sometimes we did have might aura in nm, sometimes we did not.

It is a very odd effect. I still dont mind it too much when it comes to might and defiance.
When you are going for a holy freeze merc however, it might be very annoying.

Having a similar issue. I bought the act2 merc with might, when I go to hell it shows he has blessed aim, however the might aura still activates. Its probably a ui glitch, showing one aura when it has another.

I have a similar issue with A2 merc. I hired A2 nm holy freeze but in hell mode it displays defiance. When I’m in nm games it displays holy freeze just fine and defiance on hell. This is same across all my characters. The aura when active still stays holy freeze just the hireling page displays wrong aura.

this is just a visual bug, the aura is still the “right” one but the new “ui” is completely bugged…
