My mercs Aura changed from Defiance to holy freeze when I went from normal to nightmare. Is there a fix for this? I dont want the holy freeze aura and the mercs get stronger as you level them up from a low level so I dont want to lose that.
Had the same issues on mine and brothers account. Holy Freeze switched to defiance aura

My act 2 nm holy freeze merc switches to defiance on the merc skills page when in hell and normal games, but still uses holy freeze as expected.

This bug does sound like it should actually affect everyone.
It actually switches back and forth, depending on which difficulty you choose. Had prayer in normal, now have thorns in nightmare. Both with different skill levels even.

Got the same bug here, but i think it’s just à visual bug in the merc tooltip menu.

I got the same bug here, my Holy Freeze merc’s aura appeared as defiance on the skill page. Pretty sure that’s only a visual bug but it is still confusing.

This just happened to me as well and it’s not just a graphical thing. It really did just change from Holy Freeze to Defiance aura.
And to whoever said that this is as intended it surely isn’t. It was never that way, and should never be that way. This is a bug plain and simple.

Happening to me now every time i swap games from NM to hell, might to defiance every single time. No this is not just visual, my mercs dmg is definitely, and quite obviously effected.
My Merc has Defiance on Norm and hell, but switches to holy freeze in NM. It sounds like the holy freeze Mercs are having the inverse issue…

Same thing here but on the note of lvling up your merc manually that isn’t the case anymore. It only matters what difficulty you get them from. The lower the difficulty he is from the higher the stats. It doesn’t matter at all now if you bought him at lvl85 or lvled him to that. Just what difficulty you got him in. (Normal will have higher than hell)
My NM Holy Freeze switched to Defiance in hell. And it is not just a visual bug. I no longer get any Holy Freeze effect on monsters in Hell. The mercenary exp bar even changes.
Edit: Played some more. The Holy Freeze kicked in while in Hell but something is not right.

On a related note, attempting to mod hirelings is not working. Changing an ACT1’s merc to use Freezing Arrow used to work in legacy, but in resurrected the hireling refuses to use the ability. These other issues look to be a bug in the same ballpark of code: the hirelings.txt file is not being utilized fully/correctly.

Act 2 merc bought as Frozen aura then when I go to another difficulty is changes to defiance aura. Oddly enough this problem continues even if I completely repurchase another merc.
This is still happening blizzard fix this?
Mine does the opposite lol so annoying - I’ve given up trying to rebuy merc because it changes to defiance instantly
This keeps switching from might on NM to blessed aim on Hell which just won’t stop switching even with another merc. I’d argue it’s really ruining the endgame for trying to min/max your merc. Pretty frustrated right now…
