Playing d2 from the beginning. As softcore doesn’t make fun anymore i tried HC. And here comes the sad story. I experienced 4 deaths. 1. Java level 73 - the one and only mistake i have made on HC. Then paladins lvl 90, 88, 88. All three caused by some kind of weird DC. Game freezes. As it freezes i am trying to fast quit the game and all i can see after relog is ghoust. Sad really. The “funny” point of all this is, that i never have problem whit connection playing starcraft 2, or even better, softcore d2r. Or bz using other applications.
In fact, i dont know why i am writing this here. I am just sad. I like playing games. But this is really stupid waste of time.
So guys, hope you will have better luck. Take care. And… R.I.P. Vlad_TheImpaler.
I have also lost several characters including a 97. And I totally agree with you it’s is NOT normal. Many HC players don’t understand what’s going on. There is a problem with the settings of the servers. I’ve been debating about it about weeks about the problem of disconnection :
In case of loss of signal (lag/freeze), your character is stuck in game for more than 40 seconds, while it’s always been 8 seconds in D2 original. This simples makes no sense in regards to D2 characteristics. 8 seconds simply makes sense in a game where one can instantly use a town portal, exit or use multiple rejuv potions : because death only occur in zero to 5 seconds. Nobody intentionally pull the plug to survive EVER.
In the early release of d2, the delay was actually also 30 or 40 seconds before being dropped down to 8 sec for decades. I simply don’t understand why it’s not being changed. It has worked for ages with 8 seconds and now nobody is happy. I see people slowly dying by 1 white monster.
It’s true most HC deaths are due to lag/ server instability. Don’t think Blizzard will fix sadly. Your character could stay in the game up to 60s that’s insane, death sentence.
By my opinion game server should be able to detect whenever there is a connection problem and kick the character out of the game instantly.
Argument that it would be not fair is not relevant, because if there is no lag i can leave game instantly (to avoid death) or use port etc.
Even 8 sec. is too much.
It’s a bit shame that HC is not about skill but mostly about luck.
Moreover, those paladins were all HOF and all died in sanctuary. What is also interesting. Because I didn’t experienced such kind of lags/DCs in other areas or with other chars (HC or SC doesn’t matter at this point).
“Everything else works fine” Is not related at all
You might lose connection/lag/freeze for a variety of reasons, you never play hc on wifi or you deserve to die.
Don’t play HC in D2R, some random DC or server hiccup will take your char. I feel like if you somehow DC they sometimes just autokill your character, because I had a router restart during play once and after that my character was dead, even tho there was nothing in sight.
ploot? Wtf? Also no, player x command on online. If you want it go play offline. There’s no point in online player’s x command unless it was in a SSF league only, then I could see it coming online, but outside of that, no.
It is out of topic but you are not right. Currently leveling 3rd char this season and guess what. Group is making act 3 quest and some Mr. Smartone will come and kill Meph because he thinks there will be better drop in game with more players. It happens quite often.
Now create new game and if the party was random, find new one.
That’s one reason and there are plenty other reasons. Just open your mind a bit, player x online wont harm.
