A Simple Request

Allow crafted items to maintain their ethereal stat if an ethereal base is used.
Allow re-rolled rares to maintain their ethereal stat if an ethereal rare is used.

Thank you

That’s a negative, ghost rider.

Hunting for gear is part of the grand scheme. Remove that, and you’ll effectively be removing a part of the game. Keep on truckin’, find new bases when you ruin them in a recipe!

I think that you are misunderstanding.

Again, i am saying to maintain the ethereal stat of items when you reroll and craft with ethereal items… The same way ethereal stat remains when you imbue with an ethereal base…

Currently if you craft or reroll using an etheral base, it turns it into non-ethereal.

Might make crafting weapons more interesting, still low chances for something great, but a lot better than if non-eth.

The idea behind removing Ethereal in cube recipes is part of the RNG factor the cube is designed intent with. If people could simply reroll the item and maintain the ethereal property, then it would change the core fundamentals of cube rerolling and dramatically change the way Diablo 2’s crafting scene would work.

If you want eth use an eth base, if not dont

Whats so dramatic in this?

The problem with rares is not that they cant be better, is that they hardly are

We need to improve the chances of getting good rares and OPs suggestion does exactly this

The same with the magic affix pool, it needs to be reduced

But then why doesnt RNG factor apply for imbues in this way and turn ethereal into non ethereal?

Ehtereal base imbues remain ethereal.

One time use vs infinite reroll ability.

Then why cant non ethereal items reroll as ethereal?

Implied game mechanics. This was their vision for itemization. Ethereal items are inherently superior to their non-ethereal counterparts when used in specific ways.

We can sit here and speculate the pros and cons and the what ifs of the situation but the fact stands, there’s a reason why they don’t allow it.

Anyway, that’s my take on it. I’ll be on my way. Īµļ¼Īµļ¼Īµļ¼ā”Œ( ļ¾Ÿāˆ€ļ¾Ÿ)ā”˜

Sadly then crafted weapons will never be as good as rares or runewords and they are therefore relegated to second class status

I’d like if ethereal bases could be used to craft ethereal items, that would be a great help to their usability and would expand the trade market for ethereal items.

I don’t think it would be too powerful because you need to first find the ethereal base (1/20 chance on top of the rarity of the base itself) then you would also need to roll desirable affixes on top of it (ED%, IAS, self-repair or sockets, etc.) which will be quite rare. If you brick it then you’ll need to find or trade for another base so it keeps stuff cycling.

I suppose some specific builds would have an easier time like blade fury assassins (no self-rep needed if you don’t use blade shield) or throw barbs (no replenish needed if you have enough crit and deadly strike), but they’re not very powerful to begin with so I don’t think it’s a big deal. Mercs would also benefit but they have a lot of competition in their equipment slots already.

Having said that I’m not sure if rares should stay ethereal when rerolled, I suppose the item level will decay rapidly if you use the pskull recipe so the desirable affixes could become unattainable, on the other hand there’s the SoJ reroll recipe that can actually increase the ilvl but that also costs a SoJ so… I’m not sure about this one.

TL;DR: I think allowing ethereal bases to create ethereal crafts could be cool, unsure about rares staying ethereal after rerolling.

This mentality is exactly why D2R is now as dead as the original diablo 2. The devs do not even want to deal with the player base anymore. a bunch of near 40 plus year old men complaining about any possible changes the devs make, there is no opportunity to bring in new player base, because the chances of getting decent items in a normal sitting of game play are ASTRONOMICALLY low. Any time a person brings up a good idea like this for example, the gatekeeping smug guys like you pop in to shut it down.

Its not even like what this man is proposing is free handouts to players like diablo 4 does, what’s being debated here is very costly and time consuming within itself. There is a vast quantity of changes that can be made to breathe new life to this game and take away the high table of the bot running elite with their 2000$ plus items.

Instead we have a dead game and no updates in the current season and bots running 24/7 just like the classic. you got what you wanted Chief.

I wont set the blame entirely on the toxic player base of D2 for the lack of dev interest, Blizz is desperately trying to keep the rotting carcass of diablo 4 afloat so I expect they cut funding to this ancient game. Opening Bnet and seeing nothing but spammy D4 adds even on the D2r game select page makes me sick.

Good job necroing a 2 year old dead thread to lash out at someone.

It’s obvious you wanted a remake of the game rather than a remaster. If you don’t like the game as it has been for basically the past 20 years, maybe it’s time for you to move on.

Have you ever considered maybe you need to stick to your original diablo 2? Funny, I never hear you kings complaining about the graphical overhaul. Talk about a circumstantial hypocritical thought process. Notice how you did not even rebuttal the bot issue? Probably got three pc running bots yourself like a true blood d2 purist.

I’m not lashing out at you, don’t think your that special, I spit on all clowns that want this game to stagnate and die.

Come to think of it, he only ever asks for cain to be moved back in act 5. Guess he can’t find the x,y coordinate in his js  .
