500% mf over 50% would still be nothing

50% mf is a joke. Even if they gave 500% mf over weekend it would still be almost nothing. With diminishing returns a 1000% mf isnt much better than 300%

OK? Don’t worry about it then.

Do you think it should be significantly more? Or are you rebuking those complaining about it?

it is a weird decision for them to include it in the first place, certainly has never been a thing. i agree it is pretty insignificant but then it begs the question why lol? perhaps just as a slap in the face for all those that got banned

I think it mostly was an experiment to see what the reaction would be even to an insignificant very short term buff.

You’re probably right. After the buff is over, they’ll see how many people want more buffs, with greater effects, for longer periods, which is… Alarming.

The backlash over a small buff may make it less likely they’d do anything bigger. Although, it’s hard to say how much forum backlash means to them or represents the overall player base…

Just the other day a blue on the OW forums mentioned this for example:

and given how infrequently blues interact on their forums anymore across all games compared to other social media, I’m not sure they place much value on forum feedback in general.

The silent majority is able to be calculated and accounted for. While I do agree, the forums lean anti-change, that bias can also be calculated and accounted for. The forums are a vocal minority. Plus there are voices on twitter/reddit, and of course streamers content along with the like counts/view counts and replies. All of them combined are still a minority compared to the silent majority. All of them can be calculated and accounted for, of course with a margin of error.

Now, in regards to the forums leaning against change… Take being able to open the Cow level after the Cow King is killed for example… That was an overwhelmingly accepted change here in the forums. You saw how quickly that was worked into the game as well…

While the forums may lean against change, the forums, twitter, reddit and streamers/their followers are the sample group that voice their opinions. That’s all Blizzard has to work with.

I pretty much have followed D2R on all social media 6 months before launch (Twitter, Youtube communitues, Reddit, this forum), and whenever it came to it being for change, it was like 95% favour on all these platforms. Whenever a patch is announced, all I see is people hyped for it.

Gamefaqs, gamespot, the old blizzard forum, these people (we) literally grew up on forums.

So if there really is a “silent majority”, that’s their loss if they’re not expressing their opinions. And in my opinion if they’re not going out of their way to express their opinion, they don’t really care that much.

I think cooley said it would be better to remive the diminishing returns graph than to add 50 mf.

They are pretty clear that Runes are the new currency. Thats why they are increasing the drop rate of garbage for players with this mf crap. They want you to pay money for runes. Thats why we dont get an increase in runes, Just the mf garbage.

The reason diminishing returns were added in the first place is because uniques and sets were dropping all of the time with really high magic find numbers.

A mechanic that can be controlled by removing mf and replacing it gf or more power.

People still on about this? It’s a community event. They said that they had other stuff in mind when people here whined about the streamer race weekend as the first ladder event, and nothing for the actual player base. It’s supposed to be fun, to get players back online after a new patch, and to fulfill other community things besides the streamers.

Could they be gauging player reaction for future updates/events? Sure. Just like they sent surveys last year to gauge player interest in a multitude of things for the game. Hell, even one of the media interviews they did, they stated players wanted more than what they had announced up to that point.

I think it would be interesting to have some sort of magic find bonus that builds up as you kill more monsters/clear more areas. It’d give incentive for people to stay in games longer, reduce that server load with game creations. Plus it would deter people from crashing others questing games, as they wouldn’t have that built up bonus when joining and sniping bosses.

It would build up to a maximum level… And if you stop killing monsters sitting in town or whatever, it’d start falling back down.

We’d actually have a valid reason for clearing The Hole level 1/2. :stuck_out_tongue:

And if we want to base item hunt and want to keep that bonus down, just keep farming the same few high level areas over and over like now and recreate the game, just like we do now.

Leave the game, lose the bonus. The bonus applies to everyone in a party. If party member kills and you’re within 2 screen distance, you’ll gain as well. If you’re in the party but a stray, then you’ll start quickly losing any bonus gained from party members.

It’s encouragement to replace shako with griffons

Change the scaling of the diminishing returns. They are far too punitive.

Because they are the folks that worked on D2r want to support it, some of them have the job while all the Bliz vets work on d4. I like the new team they absorbed. Best thing to happen to Bliz since we had Bliz North. They start small, or folks would wet themselves in anger. While not really all that much of a boost, in time, event content could exist. If you do not want to do it, you will not have to. Part of it is because it is leading up to the 4th, and merica! As far as what does it do, not too much and most would not be able to notice it, but it will make a few items cheaper vs rune cost. A benefit to most unless you FG or RMT.

Its still better and you would notice that. Yes there is diminishing return but not like there is almost no difference 250 vs 500 for example. There definitely is.

It’s a community event. Only in ladder. Only for a few days. About mid/end season. I see no problem.

Shared stash was never a thing before D2R, stash tabs were never a thing before D2R, auto gold pick up was never a thing before D2R, summoning DClone across the region was never a thing before D2R.
