5 hours of farming NM Countess

And didn’t find enough runes make a Lum for Smoke. Contacted 15 people on Traderie and waited 10 hours before I got a reply. Any thoughts or ideas on where to farm for runes to make the gear I need? I haven’t made it to NM Baal yet. Currently stuck in Act 4.

You have something you can trade for Lum. Go to JSP and make a post.

I’ll pass on that site. Thank you though.

You’re literally play less and less efficiently when you could just trade for a lum using items on that site. Terrible mentality.

Edit: 15 people, 10 hours, many more items farming. Still don’t have that low level item you want. Time wasted, now more time wasted making a post here about how you don’t have what you want because you refuse to use the only popular trade platform for the game that works well.

99% of people use d2jsp, you are part of the 1% that choose not to fine, but don’t complain because most everyone else is using a system that you don’t want to take part in. Since you want it “more challenging” this is all part of the journey, including the trash trading system. GL!

As for where you need to farm, well what build requires you to be farming nm countess to progress past a4…your build might be more of an issue than trading as usually you shouldn’t need to farm any particular area until you’re in hell…

So what build requires no farming and can solo all of the way to hell?

Nothing wrong with farming NM countess. Some builds need to… I’m actually doing that right now.

A bowazon for example. Her weapon options are mostly pitiful until you get into mid Nightmare where some better unique bow options might drop. It’s either run with a TalTalTal bow, which becomes largely ineffective past early NM, an Edge bow (which isn’t horrible depending on what bow you make it with), or try and farm up the runes to create Harmony hopefully with a decent base bow.

I’m genuinely curious. If you aren’t supposed to farm until hell, then what build do you need to do that without gear? Without gear I mean no rune words, or uniques. Because if you don’t farm until hell, then you don’t have time to make rune words and use the garbage gear you find along the way. What class and build can solo hell with blues and yellows?

Blizz sorc and Hdin are good to go without any farming really easy but i find both quite boring =/

Armageddon bear is also good without any farming but don’t expect the same clearing speed as S tier tho x)

He doesn’t want to use jsp. No need to bash him.

Why farm for a Smoke on nightmare though? Ancients Pledge and rares with resists are plenty to blitz through NM. I’ve actually been doing a few Andy runs as well, though I’ve mostly been looking for Spirit and Insight bases.

Just hit level 40 on HC too :slightly_smiling_face:

3 io runes to make a lum. Io is the highest rune she can drop on NM. Also, normal cows for crystal sword for 4 socket larzuk quest.

Yeah, but target farming NM countess for them is just a pain, You’d probably find them sooner just progressing through the game.

You can make a nova sorc and farm hell countess with spirit and ancients pledge easily. Then respec when you get the runewords you want and farm mephy.

Yeah maybe I was just being a dck but still some quick research and I find: In Nightmare, she can drop up to Ko, though runes above Io are very rare."

Farm what you think is fun but I think you could push yourself to deal with higher content. Stealth (Tal Eth) gives lots of speed and you can use that to maximize your skill. Particularly for builds like: Sorc, Hammerdin, Ele Druid, Trap Asn, Javazon, Bone Necro.

Other good runewords are Spirit sword (Tal Thul Ort Amn), Lore Helm (Ort Sol), and Rhyme Shield (Shael Eth)

One more thing to mention if I may is in hell not every build is suited to every situation. Maybe you wont have a build to target farm lum from hell countess but thats ok farm somewhere else. Andariel is a great place to start. Cats 3 entrance tile is always 90 degrees clockwise from the waypoint.

One more thing if you want a lum rune just add me: HungryJ#1756

Trying to progress now. Stuck in Act 4. Survivability issues. Hence the need for Smoke.

Are you ladder? If so make a game and ill give you some lum runes.

I appreciate the kind gesture, but I want to do this on my own. Thank you though.

If you’re playing online with ladder just play with other people.
If you’re soloing it you need hybrid damage and a good merc to get through things usually.

There are some builds that can easily walk through the game though and handle anything like summoned armies and hammerdin.

And depending on your character you can mostly skip farming in NM. Sometimes you need to do a few runs to complete your build a little bit more, but losing half a day to complete a smoke is stalling all your progress for a runewrod that will be obsolete in another day or so.

Not playing the game for several reason is a reason to inform him that there are better options. Firstly holding up gameplay to make ONE item and farming nightmare for it isn’t a good use of time, especially considering that smoke isn’t even a decent runeword and will be outpaced very shortly after you made it. Then even if you hate the entire aspect of FG trading I’m sure you could overpay for a Lum on JSP with your current items and be done with your search, meaning you’d now be spending less time trying to trade (10 hours wasted) and no time wasting time on NM countess (no key drop, low rune table). That type of inefficiency is why so many make posts about never finding anything, if you play poorly you certainly will find a lot less than other people.

Smoke isn’t the answer. Rush and blitz through hell, get your quests done asap. Use the first shield runeword you can make, then focus on what you class really needs. Target farm one or two areas your class can actually handle and you’ll dominate.
