I’m playing off-line single player. 4x consecutive games with each portal spawning on the cow king pack. Is this a 2.4 bug?
In offline single player maps are static, so if you have a map where the red portal spawns in the Cow King’s corral then it’ll keep happening until you reroll a different map.
As for your question this isn’t a bug, the red portal sometimes opened near the Cow King in original D2 as well.

maps don’t change on offline characters. as soon as the zone loads for the first time on that character, that’s the map for that character’s games. you won’t get a different map for the cow level until you go to a different difficulty level, or roll a new character.
if there’s a way to reset/reroll the maps, i don’t know it

Map should change if you choose a different difficulty and then back to the difficulty you want to farm.

In more than 10 years I’ve never spawned red portal on cow king. Its a stupid mechanic that would just wipe a HC char. Its stupid mechanics like this one is why I can’t play HC. I think the in the 2nd or 3rd game there was an extra fast mana burn mob in that pack so I was literally not going to fight my way out of that corner. It was like a pulp fiction moment with the crazy cop.
I’ll have to re-roll the map.
Always been in classic, that why i always pre buff before going in as a HC players. Anyway as you got told already in the thread all you have to do is to remake a game in another difficulty and come back to the one you were playing to reset your map on SP.

Hahahaha, blaming the maker for your own ignorance. Do you blame the cop when you dont know the speed limit as well? Or the parking guy when your car gets towed.
Thank you for replies guys. Swapping difficulties did re-roll the maps which moved the red portal.
