I found a 3 socketed monarch in Hell Cows and Larry’s won’t let me add a 4th socket. Anyone know why or how to get around it?
You can’t add sockets to an item that already has sockets.

It’s always a gamble. Whether you get a plain item and roll it In your cube or put your faith in larzuk, could be like my luck and have wasted every one of my socket quests on my Pali trying to get a decent 4soc monarch or sacred targe. Eventually much like my flails for hoto and CTA I just found them superior and presocketed. But just remember this. If you find a superior monarch you can’t roll the sockets in your cube like it used to be which eventually let to Ebugged equipment (which was patched before d2r as far as I know) you will have to put your faith in larzuk. It could take a while like it did for me but you are almost better off saving larzuk for elite socketing and just go do some runs and find what you are looking for. Just a tip. Look in act 3 between lower kurast and travical, run river of flame backwards, or do bloody runs up the bloody foot hills to elrich the rectifier, I can promise you will find one soon enough.
Larzuk always adds the max sockets an item can receive. This is based on item type and ilvl. Its not a gamble. Ebug affected eth armor I don’t think it has anything to do with superior…

Sure. That’s why some runeword bases that are superior and require less than max sockets can get extremely expensive. 3s armors or 4s poles for example…
