It ticks per frame instead of per second. That adds up very quickly. Also why items with magic damage reduction like Dwarf Star matter so much. Without looking it up lets say they deal 50 inferno damage per tick, at 25 ticks, with 75 fire res.
50 * 25 = 1250
1250 * 0.25 = 312.5 damage, per second, per Megademon.
Now add in a nicely rolled Dwarf Star with -15 magic damage. That applies to every tick.
50 - 15 = 35
35*25 = 875. Already over 25% reduction without resists yet. Then factor resists.
875 * 0.25 = 218.75 per second.
The numbers are wrong but I hope that helps.
It’s also why the Venom Serpents at Nihl deal (used to) so much damage as it was also bugged with poison and phys damage. So with no phys reduction you felt the full force + the poison damage itself. That’s been cleaned up. They also ticked per frame, not per second.
