Recently I have been playing a Blade Fury assassin, and while I enjoy it, I’m finding the hardest part is simply keeping my AR up enough to actually hit mobs with my attack. While there are items that can help with this in later game, while leveling it can be a daunting task to overcome a low hit chance (I think I had roughly a 20% chance to hit Baal on normal).
When I was looking at the changes being made to Blade Fury on the test realm, all they did was add some synergies to increase the damage, but there still isn’t anything being done to increase the chance to hit with the ability, which is the main reason I’ve found for it to have issues with damage.
I would recommend adding some way for Assassins to increase their attack rating when using Blade Fury, even if it was something simple, like allowing the AR bonus from Claw Mastery to influence Blade Fury, as currently the AR bonus on Claw Mastery is the only part of Claw Mastery that does not influence Blade Fury.
The skill has no AR at all … so pumping dex won’t give much ar at all … Angelic ammy + 2 x ring is your best bet or angelic/raven, That with a merc with blessed aim and enchant charge weapon on swap.
I run a melee sorc and attack rating is also a problem for me, the solution is to have a few less skill gcs and add some attack rating gcs instead. As stated above, you can also get an a2 merc with blessed aim aura.
Yeah, this was not in the PTR so I also had trouble hitting things. Also, the damage still felt low to me even though it was still just player one I am not a fan of the 75% weapon damage still being on it in addition to the low damage numbers from +skill levels. I tried it with several things, too, like Azurewrath with its +500-1000 non-physical damage, not just claws. It… still was not great. Just… almost okay. Tolerable, I guess. Not worth the investment, really.
I feel like blade shield should do way more damage since it requires hugging the monsters to work, and the blade sentinel has a cooldown that is far too long.
Yes I use enchant, but enchant gives a % to your attack rating, not a set amount. This means you character needs to already have some attack rating to make this effective. The 2-3 gcs with 120+ attack rating plus enchant gives me about 10k attack rating, right where I need to be for hell.
As I am leveling, I keep my str, dex, and vit, all even until one gets to what the max base would be for my final build. That being said according to Maxroll, to have Max block with a Troll Nest I would need 363 dex (298 base with my target build), With that dex my regular attacks with a claw have 8800AR but only 3900AR is calculated on Blade Fury.
Even Kick attacks get the AR bonus from Claw Mastery, so I don’t see why Blade Fury doesn’t.
Why people constantly complain about AR instead of building around it blows my mind.
It was equally hilarious watching Llama try to play a zealot or ww barb without putting a single point into dex, using any charms that give him AR, or trying to use Angelic, and then claiming melee was broken because he can’t hit anything.
Then he goes on to claim the smiter is the only good melee class… LOL.
I’m not saying this particular Assassin build doesn’t need better AR, but unless you’re doing everything possible to make it hit, it’s certainly hard to know.
OddBall here your solution to your problem(at least for PVE)…pvp side merc are banned so though luck(idk if ignore def work for pvp but if does then grief would be an alternative to Death runeword
d2 maxroll gg/d2planner/s90106lk
add dots and ttp where it goes
…note: trap gc are place holder…idk if the new scaling on traps be worth the skillers GC or not
edit:note 2: btw dont consider any other pieces of gear on your merc…each of those +2 skills are +20%(60% total) it boost merc aura lvl
edit 2: i did consider reaper toll as an option on merc for decripy…but not sure how well that will go since fury is a ranged build…but thats -20% ar putting that on merc…and you loose the defensive from holy freeze…so…choice is your
