22 Nights of Terror event planned for 2024

For anyone that was wondering it sounds like the 22 Nights of Terror event is still planned for this year despite being very close to the ladder reset. Also yet another place for D2R info that’s not the official forums in addition to Reddit and X.

I think it’s cool that they’re gonna do the event, it started December 13th last year so if it’s the same this year then it’ll be be 10 days after the reset, more than enough time for the bots to decimate it.

Man, I’m so excited to play ladder reset again. The first week is always the most fun in a ladder, to find Stealth, Insight, Spirit etc.
Same old strategy with Hydra/Orb → Blizz Sorc Mephisto, Andy and keys farming with Nova Sorc to become rich fast
And after you get Infinity/Enigma, time to grind to 99 :))
With 22 Nights of Terror after 1 week of new ladder we will get some juicy buffs hopefully xD
Last Ladder, I played HC too and there’re less botters and item prices are more stable.
Different experience to get items, progress and awareness. Take longer compared to Softcore to get geared up, but fun.

P.S: Will be a very long Saturday night Europe time :)))

Yes having -100% resistances on hardcore characters was a good move from blizzard… sigh…

It’s not like the -100res/2Xdmg modifier was permanent… If it comes again, if you think it’s too much of a risk for your HC character, take a day off from playing. Also, not everyone plays hardcore. There are some who may have appreciated the challenge the tradeoff modifier offered.

:man_shrugging:

The really stupid thing was (and maybe it was even really on purpose) that it came directly after a res boost day. Without any forwarning. One could call that … malignity …

As usual you are missing the point, people lost characters because it was done clumsy because blizzard does not play there own games or think stuff through.

It’s up to the player to be hardcore enough to know their limits. The -100 resistance killing some hardcore players probably gave them that rush from dying they experienced more frequently back two decades ago.

But I’m missing the point, yeah.

I’m talking from a game design point of view, give a fair warning that you cannot mis, so yes you are missing it, because people walking into danger without realizing there where even changes… you simply can’t grasp what is being said at all.

Well I suppose for some, the surprise factor worked. :smiling_imp:

The 22 Nights of Terror event was announced… The -100 res/+2x damage modifier wasn’t the first one of the batch… There were obvious clues that something was going on in the days beforehand even IF the player didn’t read the announcement…

And if someone hasn’t played in a while who happened to play their hardcore character for the first time ON THE DAY that the -100 res/2x dmg modifier was in effect and died because of it… It’s a video game, they’ll get over it.

Maybe just maybe you like arguing for the sake of arguing lol… yes i’ll tell the people with lvl90+ characters and fun items they will get over it haha very fun good game experience not tone deaf at all, clueless to do all of that instead of implementing fun things like more gold find or new boss challenges or something, a Christmas themed diablo ? a nice Christmas tree in act1? implementing hostile updates is maybe not the best thing to do.

What do you want them to do? Pop up a window every time you start a game prompting you of the modifiers for the 22 Nights of Terror event? You know how many bots that would disrupt? (At least temporarily)

Yo this doesn’t effect SP right? Cause I quit last time they were running this dumb crap.

Can’t stand holiday crap in games. Don’t play the same games for 2+ decades to deal with dumb half baked holiday nonsense made by Blizzard interns.

It’s for online play only.

“The 22 Nights of Terror holiday event can be enjoyed in all online game modes except for Classic Diablo II.”

Oh thank god. Was figuring I’d have to unplug my modem lol. I mean I already had next to zero interest in this ladder, but this def made sure I wouldn’t touch it lol.

FWIW you can also launch directly from D2R.exe and that’ll make it not “phone home” to Bnet servers, but you’ll have to do the 30 day log-in assuming you’re not using the unplugged version.

Yeah for the longest time I had a version of 2.3 sitting around on my other pc, but I wasn’t sure about the normal version heh. I swear video games over the years have made me actively hate the holidays.

“How more time to game with the buds? Here is a worse version of the game to play for a month. Gratz.”

I think it’s a fun idea, ideally it’d be optional (besides playing offline or classic) but apparently that’s too much work for Blizz to add a toggle so. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah I get it, some people like events. I’m the guy that the moment I see an “event” in a game I don’t log back in til it’s over lol.

Actually quit an EQ p-server recently because they ran a month long XP bonus event for Halloween. By the time it was over I’d lost interest.

On/off toggle… Too… much… work…

Pre M$ takeover… Bobby Kotick would had to pay software developers all of that money developing this on/off toggle button, we wouldn’t want him standing on a corner with a cardboard sign asking for handouts, would we?

Post M$ takeover… We wouldn’t want the entirety of the Microsoft software development team to spend so much time on an on/off toggle for this that it causes bugs in their other software?.. Oh, wait. That happens anyway. Nevermind.
