“Personal loot” term being thrown without knowingthe meaning

Im not on any side here but the side of correctness

Personal loot: items that drop according to your need or class

Ie: Pelts are more likely to drop if you are a Druid and claws are less likely

loot allocation: the ability to pick up an item that dropped is limited to a specific player permanently or for a certain time

  • free for all

  • permanent allocation: the item is reserve for you to pick until you leave the game

  • short allocation: the item is reserve for you to pick for a certain numbers of seconds

instanced loot: Loot is generated separately for every individuals in the game. You loot only exists and can be seen for you

that’s actually “smart loot” though , wrong definition there buddy

Edit : hey that’s my 1000th post it seem ! too bad i should have made a better 1000th post to celebrate , oh well :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s no personal loot in Diablo 2 so I dont see why your even talking about it at this point. However do carry on with your theory crafting.

All you ever need to know is FFA baby!

No toggle either. The side has been explained a million times now. FFA is all there is and will be.

You can say it doesn’t affect FFA players, what it will do is cause everyone to hostile any game not set FFA. Oh look, a new game mode. Loot allocation = the new PK lobbies.

Omg that makes it almost worth it. I would destroy all ploot games.

Now I might be open.

Its the plan for many in the PvP scene if they add this feature. Its a wrap

I think I found my purpose in life.

It will teach them to set a private game that provides them with ploot!

Then they’re going to whine even harder about handshake pvp “option”.

Yeah, probably after they finish flying their PLoot banner. But by then the numbers will have balanced and the “short-timers” will be gone. Hopefully at that point we can just overwhelm the vote more than we already do.

I disagree that this is what personal loot means. Personal loot is another name for instanced loot imo.

That said, yeah, it is unfortunate that personal loot was the name that has been used everywhere, since it isnt what the discussing was ever really about.

This is the one that matters imo.

That should and would definitely be possible.

As I have said before, most people accept Timed Allocation loot when the system is explained to them :joy:

I might even be open to a charm stash now! So I can have enough room for all of the ears from the Toggled Loot mode games!

Maybe even add Ear stacking.

As long as its per-player. I can’t have my collectibles mixed up.

Yeah, I like the timed random assignment version. “Ploot” just throws everyone off and they think what’s being talked about is D3 instanced loot.

Oh my goodness, he made an entire thread about what personal loot is, without researching what personal loot is.

That, my friend, is called SMART LOOT.

Edit - Gamma beat me to it, I really need to start reading entire threads when I get home.

While I agree with using these terms in this way, I think the more correct conclusion here is that these terms are not something well-defined, and have no real meaning
Hence why people need to describe what they mean/want instead. And people should stop throwing the meaningless “omg D3” response.

Yes, in D3 the loot for your class is called Smart Loot. However, a similar thing in WoW, making you only get loot for your spec/class is indeed called Personal Loot.

So eh, meaningless terms are meaningless.

Did he say WoW? Bake him away, toys!
