WC2R - Multiplayer is unusable because spawn positions bug!

In multiplayer, spawn positions are incorrectly limited by the number of players in the lobby. If you choose an 8 player map, but there are only 2 players in the lobby, players will only ever spawn in positions 1 and 2. Spawn positions 3 through 8 will never be used. It will be random which of the two spots each player gets, but they will always be right next to each-other in the same two spots every single time.

This is especially problematic for 1vs1 since you will always spawn right next to your opponent and you will know exactly where they are, and they will know where you are.

For example, if you choose the map Garden of War, which is an 8 player map with 8 possible spawn positions - and play 1vs1, you and your opponent will always spawn in the two bottom right hand corner positions right next to each other every single time. It will be random which of those two spots you will get, but it will only ever be those two spots.

That does sound frustrating, especially for 1v1 matches where strategic positioning is key. I always like to have a potential workaround that could manually add AI players to fill the lobby. In most of the cases, this forces the game to randomize all spawn positions.

Alternatively, you can explore community mods or patches that address spawn issues.

Are you talking private servers? There is none for Remaster Warcraft 2.
This is a none issue for War2BNE and all its variants.
I second kNox and we need the toggle back for starting order; Random, Fixed Order/Map Default.
