Was Heroes of the Storm matchmaking changed recently?

I play one or two ranked HotS matches most evenings - in this season I was silver 3 with 55% win rate but since 2 days ago I lost 11 out of 12 matches. Many of them, because some player straight up wouldn’t participate. Was there a major exodus of players or did they change something about how matchmaking works? This is unplayable and I am probably going to finally quit, having played semi-regularly since beta.
