Warcraft Senior Manager Brad Chan philosophy

Remember when the Warcraft 2 remaster was announced and immediately released at the Warcraft 30th anniversary - Brad Chan stated “When something is broken, you fix it. When something is wrong, you make it right, and if things arent good enough you make them better.” He also reassured players that all of the previous maps would be playable on the new remastered version.

We are still unable to host player made maps to others because there is no download/map sharing capability. We are limited to the same few maps that are provided with the purchase.

Please fix this so we can share the many great maps that have been created over the years with new players. We also desperately need the ability to communicte basic chat functions during multi-player. Remember Battlenet for Warcraft 2?

We can’t even see total players online or how many games are currently active, it’s incredibly difficult to coordinate games with players who can’t even get the maps. We can’t enter text when a game is paused, cant send messages, there are no stats, no ability to kick or ban problematic players, etc… please help!

This is really all you need to see Profile - Kaivax-1970 - Blizzard Forums

They’re most likely operating with no budget, once again just like Warcraft 3 Reforged. Blizzard’s reputation with remasters isn’t good. We got fooled once. Did we get fooled twice?

At this point just open source the game and let the community do the rest.

I wonder if they were affected by the recent fires near LA. I see that the blizzard office is in that area, so maybe they have to deal with the consequences. Anyway, I hope for the new updates soon, but also I can understand the emergency situation and wish the region and the people there speedy recovery.

He’ll say and do anything to keep his job and to get paid, he has no philosophy he follows, if he did then he’ll “DO” what he preach, action speaks louder then words.

Still no ability to download custom maps from other players among other things.

Hi everyone,

I can see a lot of frustration here, and it’s understandable. Features like custom map sharing, in-game chat, multiplayer stats, and game hosting controls were a big part of the classic Warcraft experience, so it makes sense that their absence in the remaster is disappointing.

From my own experience, some features that were available in Battle.net Classic (BNE) just aren’t in the remaster. Key missing features include:

  • Custom map sharing: Players can’t download or share maps easily.
  • In-game chat and communication: No chat channels or private messages for coordination.
  • Multiplayer map functionality: Multiplayer maps often fail to load correctly.
  • Allies tab and team management: Missing allies tab, mini-map, map settings, and hotkey editor.
  • Game hosting controls: Limited options for teams, bans, and passwords.
  • Matchmaking and ladder system: No ladder ranking or matchmaking features.
  • Observer mode and game replays: Cannot watch games or replay matches.

If the remaster were to fully incorporate the features that BNE had, it would immediately improve the multiplayer experience. Over time, gradually adding some of the enhancements seen in community-driven projects, like the Combat Edition, could further enhance gameplay and show that Blizzard is listening to player feedback, without changing the core experience.

I personally prefer the remaster and appreciate the work that has gone into it, but I’m really looking forward to fully enjoying it once these missing features are added.

I hope this feedback helps prioritize these features in future updates. Constructive community input is very valuable, and addressing these gaps could make the multiplayer experience much more enjoyable for everyone.
